Quality in concept, presentation, and acting is perfect in Malayalam films--most of them. Tamil films in comparison is a cross between the genre in Malayalam and the utter masala-type movies of Telugu filmland. Only around 5 decent movies are made in Tamil on a yearly basis regardless of the logic that films need to have a market. There is a lot of catching up to do for Tamil and Telugu with regards to the class and character of Malayalam.
TV Chandran's first Malayalam film is Aalicinte Anveshanam, not Aalicinte Maranam. It's not his first film either, he made "Hemavin Kathalarkal" in Tamil before that.

It is nice to hear that malayalam film industry is trying to re build its lost glory in terms of good films.expect lot more good films. recently i happened to c karutha pakshikal ,Good movie it was . Directors ,heros and crew from this industry deserve much more appreciation and recog for their courageous move to make such movies by neglecting their image and market value
One deep hearted comment - The basics of Journalism is to bring in a nuetral point of view on any story Article. However If I read any article on rediff on movies/ entertainment - there seems to be forced need to portay malyalam movies, Mal stars in very bright light - to the point of irritation.
Pls. do go through the artices you have written in the last 1 -2 years. Even by looking at the headine I am able to guess that its Shoba\'s article.
Your knowledge of the entire cinema industry from the viewpoint of a malyalee. Pls dont write in case you dont have enough knowledge about the rest of the industry. I guess there is also nobody else to verify the articles in Rediff before they are published.
This is not my personal comment, i am echoing sentiments of other Rediff users who are my friends.

hey suresh, I don't know what your problem is. She just reported that 5 mal. movies got selected and that seems to be the max. compared to the ones from other languages. She didn't report anything false here. If your irritation is with mal. movies being elected then speak to the selection committee.
Malayalam movies were always knows for the quality of the movies and acting...thats a fact!!!

There is enough Hindism and other "isms" around to forgive Warrier's Malluism. At least in this way she is giving credit to cinema that truly deserves it.
And if you think there is better cinema in India, go ahead...bring it on. At least then we can think beyond Bollywood.

shobha is coming with neutral reports.
dont wonder if the reports praised malayalam actors like mohanlal and mammootty. they are the best actors in India. both of them had won the national award three times.
among other South Indian actors only Kamalhasan and to a certain extent Vikram is eligible for getting critical acclaim. do you think the mass comercials of tamil and telugu which questions the commonsense of viewers need panrama entry. Cheran is a rare pick among the craap comercial technicians of tamil industry. one funny thing is good films doesnt have a good market at tamilnadu. the recent manirathnam movies were flops and some craap movies became superhit

Mr.Suresh, your regional ego at its best. Thats what I understood after reading your message. Do you expect 5 Rajinikanth movies or 5 Vijayakanth movies to be given a panorama selection? Where is your rage and anger when almost all media sideline the reginal filsm and give undue importance to Hindi films?
