i am really sorry to say that this film is not going to be a box office success.. the main factor is prithviraj.. all the films of padmakumar were good... but their problem was the hero... prithviraj is a hero who lacks good box office performance... all his hits were supported by some additional factors... nandanam because of good songs, ranjith & low budget.. violence because of very very low budget... sathyam because of film strike... vellinakshstram & althbhuthadweepu were because of technical masala... swapnakoodu & classmates because of all youth stars and songs... anandabhadram because of santhosh sivan,kavya & songs.... no one was because of his presence... but vaastavam was really a good experience... prithviraj had finally done something good... the film is so interesting and it is mentioning so many political issues and family values... its really a 3 star film... the script is really good but some part is not upto the mark... all the three heroines are good... jagathy sreekumar had done a fantastic job... altogether vaasthavam is a good movie which won't dissatisfy you... strength of the film is director, padmakumar and prithviraj... the best film of padmakumar so far.
Why are you blindly criticising malayalam movies only... I watched Don(hindi), & KANK recently... You shower praises on SRK movies and not on any other... At least U should give the good comment for the efforts Prithviraj & dir : Padmakumar had taken... A nice movie
Most of your reviews till now were bad and i tended to sympathise with the harsh comments you were getting. But this one on Vasthavam was unbearable. That is why i decided to break my silence, create a rediff id and post a comment. Why this half-hearted effort? Surely the 24 year old Pritviraj playing such a tough role with elan deserved more praise. And Padmakumar who after 2 good movies which didnt fare well at the box office and coming back with another realistic movie without the usual commercial frills deserved more credit than you gave. And why no mention of Babu Janardhanan, who scripted another of this year's best movies, Achanurangatha Veedu. Besides there were two other heroines in the movie who I thought played their parts well, besides jagadeesh who got a well-written comic role after a long time.
I hate criticizing writers but this sure was one poor poor review. Rediff buck up...
For the reviewer...maybe you go in with a frame of mind to critique a movie...and thats why you see it all in a jaundiced eye.go in just for time-pass and try to enjoy it while it lasts...begin the criticism only after coming out of the theater. i am sure you will fare much better.goodluck

I agree. Rediff reviews have become movie bashings.Some how these reviewers think that the more you downgrade a movie the better the review is.
sify.com reviews are much better and most of the time I have felt that it matches with the box office result and acclaim of the film
