Yes,there should be a documentary on the Rang De effect
by L.S on Jun 01, 2006 12:05 PM

The year 2006 has started off wonderfully for Bollywood thanks to RDB.It has even affected the common man, touched a chord.Like the film's protagonists Indians are daring to get off the fence and take a stand.Whether this stand taking is good or bad depends on individual and cause. For Aamir himself the RDb effect seems to have landed him in hot water! But films do affect thinking.I know of people changing their negative attitudes towards minority groups after watching certain films.Yes,there should be a docu on effect of films.

RANG DE BASANTI made MOCKERY of National ANTHEM
by Bharat Kumar on May 30, 2006 08:56 PM  | Hide replies

Aamir Khan has truly shown that he has double standard when talking about democracy! While his film RANG DE BASANTI has made mockery of National Anthem (a boy raps JANA GANA MANA VANDE MAATARAM). He is not concerned about Gujarat people, in fact, he had gone there to promote 100 days of RANG DE BASANTI with his cast (Atul Kulkarni & Rakeysh Mehra filming to highlight their concern). No wonder, the ire of Gujarat people are justified and HE SHOULD APOLOGISE for hurting teh sentiments!
Sad to see the MEDIA giving him so much hype because they have forgotten how AAMIR had prohibited the MEDIA during his second marriage with Kiran Rao in Panchgani. In fact, as per the reports in newspapers Aamir's guards have even manhandled reporters... is he the same man who is talking about democracy? Wonder what explantion Mr. Perfectionist has towards making Mockery of National Anthem?

Stupid fool, democracy does not mean your private life becomes public. And the film has not made a mockery of anything. Atleast the guy sang in the form of a rap. The actual reality is how much even know the national anthem or vande mataram?
Dont criticize and marvel at the novel idea of making something radiaclly different...

Rang De
by netizen on May 30, 2006 08:50 PM

Rang de is an epic! It has no predecessors not even sholay or DDLJ. RDB is a film with a substance, a novel thinking,, way ahead of its time not to be seen ever before.. its a genre of its own. Ideally it should put all the other pea brain directors making the films involving dil, deewana, pyaar etc in their title to shame!!

true to cinema

Very few movies and very few media relate or make an impact, touch the people. I have become very choosy after my college days about watching movies and stuff especially after my brief involvement with the industry.
And it is these fantastic films like Rang De, DDLJ, Bombay, etc. that actually make an impact.

They may be works of fiction, they may or may not break box office, but they do touch somewhere and thats what I would call 'the film making'.
Thanks to the Directors, Producers and the Crew of such movies for making such films.

I fail to understand how can a movie like DDLJ be catagorized impactful with thought provoking movies like RDB, Bombay? What does it teach us anyways? What does any Yash Chopra movie ever taught us other than the fact that you need to go to Swiss Alps to woo your lady love or be good to your elders- which I am sure all of us already been taught while growing up in India. Now if you talk about Swades, yes I think it's an impactful movies, made more impact to us, the NIRs who could identify with Mohan's emotions than someone who is living in India. Yash Chopra is a great entertainer, a modern day Indian 'Vincent Minelli' - but none of his movies are impactful or thought provoking! This is just my opinion anyways..

Immesly Tickled

Aamir has 2 film history milestones to his credit. Rang De, and Lagaan.. I would like to include Dil Chahta Hai.. but it's not as widely discussed nor is it featured in management courses..

The tickling part is this: Shahrukh has none. Shahrukh likes to quip: "have an idol u can look up to".. In film, his metier, he leaves behind.. I can't remember.. Cheers.
