Aamir is a hero in REAL life
by Nithya on Jun 06, 2006 08:42 AM

We have seen a bunch of reel-life heroes who are real-life duds. But hats-off to Aamire Khan.By saying that he won't apologise about his statements he has not only proved that he cares for the less fortunate more than the fate of Fanaa in Gujarat, but also that he has the guts to stand by his words. It is high-time the BJP realises that their bullying tactics will not work with everyone. They should behave like a political party in a democracy and not like a bunch of fanatical rogues. As for politians like HemaMalini and Shatrugun Sinha-well all I can say is they are plain spineless.Sinha's comment that Aamir should either be an actor or politician is arrogant to the core.Does he mean to say that only politicians can comment on these issues?Does he and his party understand the meaning of democracy? It is pathethic that although we r the world's largest democracy we need the Supreme court to remind us that there is a concept called "Freedom of speech".It's a pity BJP which is a major party in India, doesn't even know our constitution.Shame on them !!!Shame on all those who support them !!! If not anything else, we all should salute Aamir for standing up for what he believes.

Our India
by Omar on Jun 06, 2006 08:22 AM

Hi,

I really wonder..when we could be a super power amidst all these cheap politics..vandalism..rowdism. And im sure..no matter how economy grows..this current reaction on Amir's statement itself shows..its a long long long way..or no way for us to reach the place. Im surprised of how few people frm gujrat(the locals..not the politicians) could support the govt. Are people so bad in common sense..or english..that they dont undrstnd one simple sentence of Amir. That he is concerned of rehabilitation of people there. It makes me feel sick sometimes..as this controversy drags..nd people react for issues without undrstnding.

Amir take my advise and keep your mouth shut. Do not mess with Political Party and first care about your first wife and children. I think Gujarat Govt is doing right about banning such kind of movies.
This lesson should be learned by others.

Fanaa in gujrat
by Dr.D.K.Sharma on Jun 06, 2006 12:01 AM

I fully agree that everyone in this country is free to air his views.Problems arise when your views do not appear to match with your past behaviour and give the impression of being "ingenuine'.Aamir has never asked for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants who have been focibly evicted from their homes and are living in pitiable conditions?Has Mahesh Bhatt or anyone in the entire film industry filed a petition in the supreme court to this effect? The CM of Goa has been reported to say that he will forcibly stop the screening of Da Vinci Code in Goa multiplexes.Does the freedom of expression not apply in Goa,Punjab,TN,Karnataka, etc(Congress ruled states)and is applicable only in Gujrat?
No, fact of the matter is that a "Pseudosecular"Game of "Gujarat Baiting" is being played in this country, supported by a left oriented media, both print and electronic. It would be interesting to study the number of people (employed in these media)who come from institutions with a Leftist leaning eg.the JNU.

shame on all those supporting the BJP
by keshav chandak on Jun 03, 2006 01:15 PM  | Hide replies

it's a shame on all those supporting the BJP,a party which does not believe in democracy,a party responsible for the GODHRA and VADODRA riots.saying that aamir should not involve in political issues is such a ridiculous statement.he is an indian and he has every right to say what ever he wants to.being a filmstar does not mean he is cut off from national issues.BJP saying that gujratis don't want to watch the FANAA is abig lie.if there was such a case then why are the gujratis storming the video libraries and buying the PIRATED VCD's like vegetables.

Aamir is Right
by sreejithgs on Jun 02, 2006 06:42 PM

Aamir khan is fully right by not apologizing about his stand. In India every person have the right to express his opinion.I had great regard for Aamir Khan as an actor. Now I have great regard for Aamir as a person also because he showed the guts to stand firm on what he told.Gujrath B.J.P is acting like Taliban which banned music and football in Afganisthan.Every sensible person except religious fantatics will think that Aamir is right.I hope people of India will raise there voice and express their solidarity with Aamir
