Fools Rush In:BJP or Aamir?
by NPM on Jun 13, 2006 09:48 AM

It is now a largely accepted fact that Gujarat has taken quite commendable steps for rehabilitation work. Nobody can say that any development work can be carried out at the cost of the poor people. Aamir says he had said just that; in that case there should not have been needless controversy when he says that he is not against Narmada project. And subsequently he only added fuel to the fire. But the fact is he jumped in the fray without any knowledge of the issue. Political parties took up from there and he was made to look a fool. The opposition came from all the parties in Gujarat, not just BJP. The issue is to catch the attention of the people whose sentiments in Gujarat are very strong on this matter. Aaamir's opposition is only incidental. But it may end up damaging his popularity.

BJP or AMIR

I fully agree that everyone in this country is free to air his views.Problems arise when your views do not appear to match with your past behaviour and you
give the impression of being "ingenuine'and a Hypocrite.Aamir has never asked for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants who have been focibly evicted from their homes and are living in pitiable conditions?Has Mahesh Bhatt or anyone in the entire film industry filed a petition in the supreme court to this effect? The CM of Goa has been reported to say that he will forcibly stop the screening of Da Vinci Code in Goa multiplexes.Does the freedom of expression not apply in Goa,Punjab,TN,Karnataka, etc(Congress ruled states)and is applicable only in Gujrat?
No, fact of the matter is that a "Pseudosecular"Game of "Gujarat Baiting" is being played in this country, supported by a left oriented media, both print and electronic. It would be interesting to study the number of people (employed in these media)who come from institutions with a Leftist leaning eg.the JNU.

Aamir, surprisingly mature, strong
by Surekha Tenneti Venugopal on Jun 07, 2006 05:45 PM

Aamir Khan's right to his observations about the Narmada-displaced people of Gujrat are absolutely unquestionable in a democracy; besides his views on being a responsible citizen are noteworthy and admirable.
May he never falter in his mission whether it is art, cinema, citizenship or his sense of social justice. May he continue to never allow himself be blackmailed by petty-minded and prejudiced people who call themselves 'leaders' (of sheep ?)

AAMIR THE YOUTH ICON...
by wasim on Jun 07, 2006 01:38 AM  | Hide replies

The behaviour of BJP goes to show that we are not living in a democartic country. The unofficial ban of fanaa in gujrat is a slap on the face of democracy. The gujrat government has been folowing the foot steps of NAZI government of HITLER. They want to dictate gujrat on their own terms and conditions. I m proud of Aamir Khan who has shown the youths to take up the issues of this country in their own hands rather than waiting for sumthing to happen. Aamir has all the right to comment on any issue as an indivisual. Our constitution gives us the right to freedom of expression. The Bjp is playing dirty politics as usual. I am with Aamir khan.

Aamair is a great actor, he is youth icon in terms of star. In the case of Narmada Dam issue, he had made a right comment on wrong part. He knows what is the water problem in gujarat and how big it is, he had stayed in Gujarat(Kutch) for 6 months for his movie 'LAGAAN'. About narmada dam people who will be benifited and people who are affected. See the ratio, affeected people are in 0.001% compare to benifited people of Gujarat.
