Yes second half of Fanaa is based on Ken Follet's book "The Eye of the Needle" and 1981 movie with same name.

and maybe even more.....

Yash Raj has yet another winner on hand! As predicted, FANAA records historic collections in its opening weekend in the three major markets -- U.S.A., U.K. and Australia. In fact, the film has overtaken the business of Yash Raj's several biggies in the three countries.

In U.K., FANAA is next to VEER-ZAARA in terms of opening weekend numbers, but is next to MOHABBATEIN in terms of screen average.

In U.S.A., FANAA is next to VEER-ZAARA in terms of opening weekend numbers, but crosses all biggies like VEER-ZAARA, SALAAM | NAMASTE, BUNTY AUR BABLI and HUM TUM in terms of screen average.

In Australia, FANAA is next to SALAAM | NAMASTE in terms of opening weekend numbers and screen average, but crosses biggies like VEER-ZAARA and BUNTY AUR BABLI.

The combined total from the three markets is a staggering [approx.] Rs. 7.10 crores

and its not even been a week.

Fanaa.........Was it worth the hype!!!????
by Nandini Shankar on May 31, 2006 02:30 PM

Absolutely not! Yash Chopra was smart enough to cast Aamir Khan which in turn helped. Or else, the movie would have bombed, trigger or no trigger!! What happened to the Yash Chopra who gave us some beautiful movies? What is he getting carried away with? The movie is just full of it.....everybody is wasted in it, especially Rishi Kapoor and Kiron Kher. It has a very weak story line and ridiculous situations. They should have let in Aamir Khan on the editing table and not to mention much earlier too. Some sense could have been made of it,perhpas. We were all fanna'ed with the movie!!

is fanaa worth the hype? - to Shruti dar
by bharat on May 31, 2006 02:00 AM

Shruti do you exect blind people to stop living. and what do you mean World tour ?????
she went to delhi to perform on independence day.... if you have any general knowledge and current affairs then you should know that mostly mentally & physically challenged people get preference to perform on such a day. The movies is apart from mainstream crap we get to see. Good story line, and excellent cinematography. I think it was worth it.
