What Nonsense
by Danny on Jun 12, 2006 03:54 AM

In our religeon the Prophet acknowledges himself as an ordinary man who has received the Word of God. Ordinary men may marry and have children and no one will be shocked or call it blasphemy.

Jesus Christ, Peace be Upon Him, is acknowledge to also be one of the Prophets. Suggesting he was married and had a child is again no sign of disrespect.

The story suggests that the institution of the Church did not like this simple knowledge and suppressed it. That is a serious alegation and one which would disturb the members of that institution, guilty or not. Except! The purpetrators are long gone and the truth (if it is) has come to light despite them.

Don't know what Muslims are protesting about
by Ahsan Shaikh on Jun 06, 2006 05:49 PM

Frankly speaking, I don't understand what is there for Muslims to protest about the Da Vinci Code. The film suggests that Jesus was not considered a God for the first 4 centuries and it was only the council which started this. Muslims also consider Jesus to be only a prophet. The other point whether Jesus was married or not should not be any problem bcos being married/unmarried did not and will not reduce the importance of Jesus to muslims. The only thing which I did not like was the commercialization of the whole thing. As a medium of discussion about Christianity's origins, the book was highly informative. It has also spurred the interest in me to actually investigate the history of Christianity as I can't take everything the book throws at me at face value.

wtf? just live with it.
by Mayur on May 22, 2006 08:05 PM

dude...if Jesus did get marride and had children, so what. it should not change your belief toward him. why should simple fictional truth should make any difference to true christians. Every known religion has some dark secrets that followers have to live with. They can not question it. I, being hindu, do not disapprove knowledge of Kam Sutra being tradition of Hinduism. It is fact that Kam sutra is part of hinduism and I've accepted it. Same way, Muslims have accepted Mohammad being marriade to 9 year old girl. so if it's true like in the book, Christ followers should accept the fact that Jesus was marriade and had child. it does not change his teachings. doee it?. people gotta grow up or else they will be living in dark world surrounded by their own fake faith.

a minority of people are seeking to destabalise the country by spreading distrust by communalising matters such as these. And then we have common people posting statements like these "minorities have been given to much freedom " I would like to point out that India is still a democratic country and everyone has a right to his or her opinion no matter how right or wrong. It is upto the government and higher authorities to do the right thing... Instead of pointing fingers at certain community it would be more advisable to see how our government deals with this issue... Personally I think there is nothing wrong with showing the Da vinci code... But as a christian it really hurts me to see people post things like these minorities have been given too much freedom.... etc etc

it is not christians who are against it. It is the muslims, they are intolerant..remember this book is most popular in the west and written by them. Muslims want to categorize christians into the same intolerant section.
