Although I don't completley agree with the reviewer, I think people like DARKBOY need to have a more open mind and see what other people think without getting all flustered and angry because you disagree. That is just immature. As for the movie. It was ho-hum. I thought the effects were good but I definatley think the beginning was really, really bad and rushed. you didn't exactly know what was happening and all of a sudden an ocen liner tips over. I din't like how it was so dramatically diffrent from the original. The original was so much better than this air-less re-make. NONE of the characters were the same from the book or 1972 movie and I thought that was too big of a diffrence. Petre Gallico [The author of the book] shouldn't have let the script writers change the names. As for the actors and actresses, most of them were unknowns and pretty bad at acting. the little boy was annoying. in one scene, he somehow gets stuck behind a grid. its really annoying because he keeps running away. As for the the Hispanic girl, she was HORRIBLE at fake-crying and acted too dramatic. The rest of the cast were just too bad. T think the definative remake of THE POSEIDON AD is yet to be created
Poseidon is a good entertainer, and one should not compare this with TITANIC. It runs just for 90 minutes, and picks up the pace right from the beginnning. Quuite a good entertainer. Raja Sen's comments unfortunately does not take the interests of the masses while reviewing.
Dear Sukanya, I have seen the orgininal picture and yesterday saw the new version too.I had read your review in afternoon and wasnt very keen on seeing it but i must say tis is last time i wud go by a movie`s review.I felt the picture was very good and gripping tale.New version has good special effects.Though i had seen the orginal pic,i so wanted the whole group to survive And comparing it with a Video game is ridiculous.It wasnt a hindi pic tat all passengers who left searching for way out would overcome all obstacles and ultimately come out of ship alive.. i dont no wat you were expectin of this pic. I saw the movie today and I need to say it is the best hollywood movie that had come out recently.
Perhaps rediff reviewers need some sort of therapy to get back to their senses.
Many hollywood movies shows exaggerated scenes and unrealtic situations, but this movie is more realistic in the manner in which the treats the disaster. I felt it better than Titanic.
Well the above review is totally bullshit. The movie is real good flick considering other movies being released. The author does'nt know how much thrill this movie generates.Could be he has seen this on a pirated VCD :) .Please go and see this in theatre.
Well i happened to see the movie on the giant IMAX screen in Hyderabad, and for all the blemishes in the script, the movie was worth watching on the IMAX screen. In case anybody interested in seeing it, do check it on IMAX and you would atleast not complain much.
Ever tried directing a movie? Its so easy to be critical of someones work, while its so hard even to replicate the standard. I watched the movie at Megaplex in the U.S and came back and was checking Indian news on Rediff and came across your review. I must confess, Indians are hyper-critical. I find the quality in me too. I think its high time you start seeing the positives rather than go all out on 'bashing'. Its good to have a good taste or like me, be a connoisseur of good work. But then, its equally important to make sure not to garbage someones effort. It doesnt take a minute for me to garbage your article , but then, I guess you must have spent at least 2 hours on typing, proof-reading and submitting it. And most imporatntly, you need to realize that what you write influences people. If I read your review 3 hours before, may be I would not have watched the movie. So, I believe you got to be more 'responsible' in your criticism. Just like the dialogue in Spiderman, 'With power comes responsibility'. Hi I am not much satisfied by the way review are written in Rediff movie column. If the movie is supposed to be slow drama, you put on a comment as its a slow movie and if the movie is on fast track you comment on movie as a very fast movie out of control. Its like Insanely commenting that sports car run very fast and luxirious car moves slow. Thats pathetic piece of review that i read on rediff please mind the essense of the review, dont forget the SARKAR reveiw that was published in rediff and the star rating given to SARKAR by rediff. Put some quality effort.
