Kishore Kumar is indeed one of the best singers we have had but mind well the days when Naushad started were a highly cultural ones. Only skillful singers used to sing songs. Our country got freedom and our movies used to convey messages to the Aaavam(janta) or citizens. Our songs used to depict raagas, lyricists used to work hard on lyrics to match situations and feelings, singers used to work hard on classical vocals while the music directors too used to compose songs keeping in mind whether its going to be picturised in morning or dusk. Naushad was very right when he said that kishore could not sing which is true as per his requirements. I would like to remind you of one of the songs in the movie Ragini which was picturised on Kishore but it was Mohd Rafi whose voice was used.
Those were the days...people from the new generation like you and me cant even imagine of.

Then....just for curiosity...Anil Biswas(whom Naushad considers his guru..according to a TVS saregama programme) was not in favor of Rafi.In this aspect was Rafisaab overrated ?
It is truly so sad that the film industry did not turn up for Naushad saab's funeral as they should have. But then you have to realise that it is a fickle business with self centred actors, actresses, directors and producers. If you are not useful to them now or in the future, you are not in their list of priorities.USE THEM THROW THEM>That is the maxim.Mr.Khayyam,another another great music director, need not feeel sorry about it.Being in the film trade he should be well aware of the ways of the film line and it's people. Another example of film fraternity forgetting old musicians of Mr.Mohd Rafi.No one has ever come close to him in the singing dept or as human being till date in the film industry.During the film awards what we get to see is some crap singers, men and women dancing in semi nude state, gyrating and shaking their crotch to some remix .GOD,PLEASE TAKE US BACK TO THE 50s AND 60s,when a look,a smile by waheeda could send our blood racing. Now,it makes our blood boil to see the naked bodies on the stage in the name of dance and entertainment. Finally,Dear naushadsaab, may your soul rest in peace.Your music is Eternal.

Who told u that kishore was knowking singing, he knew only shouting. and only crazy people like u can say that he was a singer in any standard.
# I had the previlege of interacting with him during K.L.Saigal's birthday centenery at Bombay. #Naushad Ali recalled that during the recording of the songs of "Shahajahan', he begged Kundan Lal to sing without taking liquor.Saigal by then had become alcoholic; without taking his fill, he was not prepared to sing. After much cajoling & persuation Naushad persuaded him to record with & without taking his 'Patiala'. Songs sung without were far superior & recorded. #Naushad Saab was a gentleman to his fingertips. We will get another like him. Narain Sagar, Calcutta. Tel. No. (033)24666673. Dt: 12/05/06
Dear Editor, On 12/5/1978, I was travalling in Train from Bombay VT to Nagpur, for my official works. The temp. was about 45 centigrade, I you know that during those days the mineral water in plastic bags were not available in India. The train came to platform at Devlali, near Nasik, the train was waiting on the platform for crossing. I got down on the platform and searching the Water Tap on the platform with SS Glass in hand, the tap was at the end of platform. I reached near tap, and waited in line, after me one man was waiting for his tern. When I finished my water taking in glass, the person was looking to me. I asked me "you do not have glass" he said "yes" Then I had finished my water and waiting to collect another glass of water to carry in compartment. But the person was not having Glass and he could not drink water by hand, as other people were drinking water by hand. Then I realised that the person wanted my glass, but he could not dare to asked me. Secondly, he was having incorrect feeling to ask my glass. But when I looked very carefully I recognized him and asked him " Aap Naushad Sahab hai kay ?" he replied by head "yes".
It needs a good jeweller to know the real value of a rare musical diamond like Naushad sahab and who better than Khayyam sahab who is no less a musical diamond himself.Alas, all these rare gems are leaving us one by one and i fear soon the showroom will be left with just artificial jewellery with stones that glitter brightly but of no everlasting value.
