Its nice that celebrities are being invited for dinners with Diplomats and Heads of countries...but is it to add glamour to the luncheon / dinners or do you think they add value to the conversations they have.....one must ponder over it.....
I doubt if Aamir will deign to be in the same room as Bush. Many times he has spelt out his views on Bush and his policies. In any case right now AK seems tobe busy with some wholly unnecessary legal nitpicking.Stick to good filmmaking Aamir.
PKL. March2, 2006. One is sure that there shall be wild scramble for being seen and noticed at the great mega-event the visit of President Bush ,now ,till Saturday, next. Modern diplomatic extravaganza is partly hard economic and political bargaining ; it is at the same time an invitation to the arrived celebrities of media, modelling ,sports and Belles letters to score one-upmanship on their peers...It puts a few on the high hype of eminence ,while it bites with fangs of neglected egos greenest envy! This is the usual tale of marching on each other's toe...Ash , Amir ,Siddhus of the world..D.Goel
It is something similar to an occasion when a generous Master visits the house of his loyal servant. The servant is supposed to entertain the Master in the best possible way. Though it leaves me wondering whats the other way to react
I don't understand why our officials choose to be so dumb! For heaven's sake, India has a lot of REALLY smart people to show off... why don't they invite young research scientists and engineers (trained in OUR prestigious institues such as IISc, TIFR or the IITs), and let Bush really admire what we got. I don't understand what govt. policy lead to inviting people like Suman Ranganathan et al....
