Bachan & I Tax
by peayen on Jun 14, 2006 06:19 PM

It is shocking that the Bachan family is target of Sonia Gandhi and her coterie. He was once very close to them, fell out for some good reason, and Sonia Co is continually after the family - disgusting.
I am no fan of Amitabh to protect him against evasion of taxes; he did incur heavy debts and was defaulter in Bank loans etc; but he tided over the crisis later, thanks to TV progarm of Crorepathi !!
Puruse him like ALL OTHERS for tax dues, but not target him alone like this. Sonia got wrong surname Gandhi instead of the right Ghandy of Parsees and this is being exploited to full - masses associate her name with the Mahatma Gandhi; Even after marriage, her daughter Priyanka sports the surname for benefits; Rahul has no background in Indian society or its problems but is catapulted to position; SHAME on slave mentality of our countrymen!
Centuries of bondage in veins - sad it is; Must stop this nonsence and true leadership emerge to help all to be treated equally - Utopian? but must try and reduce this witch hunt for dissenters. God help

Stupidity
by Jitesh on Jun 14, 2006 09:35 AM

I dont know what to say of this except that the great man is being singled out..
All the celebrities get meted out special treatment..be it good or worse..
They have always been singled out be it salman, sanjay dutt or amitabh..
The IT officials should stop such high handedness and do thier jobs more dutifully..
Why dont they demand the tax returns of all the politicians who have thousands of crores..
All they want is some sensationalism and some publicity..
So many of the business man escape the tax scanner so easily in India..12 years of tax returns is no joke..i wouldn't have enough time and patience nor would any common man, leave alone a big star like Amitabh!!

protest
by lgaur on Jun 14, 2006 03:03 AM

This is the height of ignorance in blind hero worship in India. They protested in the past against jailing a woman beater, law dodger and homeless killer. Now they protest against a govt agency from doing its job. Fans should not assume that stars are immune to law and order and taxation. They are amassing zillions, Fans! Don't waste your daily wages!

Democracy is nothing but politicing any issue by the politician for the politician. Amitabh made good bucks then why he should not be taxed. A young salaried people like us are so much taxed that its difficult to live in India. Its ridiculos. And peope of india are useless and ridiculous.

people of india are so disgusting.....why people raise their when it is not required.
These people never protested against the government of Gujarat for not releasing movie Fanaa in Gujurat.as Aamir has raised his voice for rehabilation for the poor people of Gujurat. He has raised has voice for a noble cause.
People are so immatured to protest against the IT department.
IT department are doing their work.
Come on India raise your voice for a good cause not for a useless reason.

i am great fan of Amitabh Bachchan, but it doesnt mean that he should be allowed to get away with all the wealth without paying tax. i fail to understand how would the congress or Sonia Gandhi benefit by such gestures (as put by Amar Singh or smajwadi party. If Amitabh is right then why is he so perturbed by such notices, i am sure he has all the means and resources to fight this and come clean. I totally agree with you that people of our country will never support,a just cause (like those of Narmada dam affectees), they would never support Amir Khan because he doesnt have any politcal backing, which Amitabh enjoys.
shame on the people who ransacked the IT office.

I think govt finding a poor way to satisfy (Sonia)Gandhi's family. Democracy doesn't mean to sit idle when such a shame decisions are taken by Govt. I'm with the protest. This issue should be condemned seriously by everyone as it is nothing but just taking out personal grudge.

Madam Gandhi's loyal soldiers are out to get Mr.Amitabh Bachchan.Very petty minded family. The Gandhi family, isn't it?Madam Gandhi cannot forget Mr.Bachchan's TV interview where he spoke about the gandhi family.
Mrs.Gandhi, there are more important issues facing the country. It does not suit a person in your position as the head of the CPP to be indulge in a private agenda against Mr.Bachchan.Instead,it would be in proper order if you tried to find the reasons why Mr.Quattrocchi was given 5 crores+ on a platter by the CBI under the directions of UPA,this despite a court order, aginst the release of monies. There are issues of J&K, North East, farmer suicides all over the country,UPA created problem of reservations,CORRUPTION at every level of central and state govts. Why cant you attend to these rather than indulge in vendetta against the Bachchans. You must remember, what you give, you get back.Cause and effect maybe?

I am ashamed to know that people are protesting against IT offices for the notices served.
With all due respect, I too am a great fan of Amitabh Bacchan. I love his personality, acting and his films but if we ever expect our country to improove, we need to follow its rules and regulations. If however a rule/regulation is not to our liking and best interests of the country, we have a full right to stage protests or whatever to rollback the regulation. But this is heights. If the people were protesting about IT rules one would understand the interest. But the very fact that people are protesting because the IT offices served notice just goes shows that the fans protesting in this case are un-educated and stupid.

Amitabh or any Indian for the matter has the right to purchase Sunglasses or even tooth-picks for whatever amount they feel is apt. However if they need to pay taxes for it - they need to.

Rather than protesting for such insame reasons and later complaining that the country is going to dogs, it would be better that each and everyone of us work towards improoving the country. I am sure Amitabh Sir would agree to this.
