Shyamalan is truly an average filmmaker

Frankly speaking Shyamalan is an average filmmaker. That his films have a net gross of more than $2.5 billion does not truly speak for the quality of his movies. His sixth sense was the only movie which though had all of his non-mainstream hallmarks was a major hit. It seems that there was an element of cheating and manipulating involved in selling to the masses when we consider all his other movies. Though people were tricked, so to speak, to come to the theatre to watch these movies the majority of them left dissatisfied and with a bad taste in their mouths as if all that was promised was not delivered in the end. I think his downward trend right from sixth sense onwards hit a nadir with the village and if people have any recollection of their prior experiences they would avoid going to this movie. Instead of looking within himself for why critics slammed he has taken a cheap shot at them by ridiculing them through this movie. I am sure that will backfire on him. I am sure his ego has a big part to play in all this, the day he sees that will be starting of his turnaround. I for one hope that people don't get cheated this time and see it only based on good word of mouth opinion.
