The movie Imsai Arasan is very good compared to many of the other movies released in Kollywood. While the intention was right from the director to add some humour, the execution was not perfect. For all the hype that it was laughter riot more humour could have been used. The music was only decent but a good effort was made in rekindling the past tunes. In fact, I was commenting to my friend that this was like watching a Shivaji or a MGR movie. Vadivelu does a decent job as a hero but just does not have the charisma to do it on a consistent basis. However, the cinematography and the sets used were quite brilliant. To really know the subtle humour a person who knows tamil well has to watch the movie. Screenplay and editing seems to be just allright. No violence just humour. At the same time, audience must not enter the theatre with the mindset that it is a pass-time flick. There is some gd content which should be appreciated. For watching many other Vijay movies, u could watch this twice. These are much more worthwhile and teach much more in terms of moral values and language use espescially for tamil students.
