Chess is another film from Sibi K Thomas, Udayan which might be 'inspired' from Tamil movies. From the story, it is evident that the film is a copy of Parthibhan starrer 'Sabaash'.It is the last of many number of rehashes from Tamil in Malayalam cinema from the likes of Udayan,Sibi,Vinayan etc.Remember Vinayan's Meerayude.....Muthuvinte..... .These films are recycled and sold into Tamil industry again giving the copycats more money.Eg.Runway - Deewar
DaarlingDaarling - Priyamudan, etc.Ofcourse u need some imagination to make it look like original malayalam. So the formula is spend 15Rs for a pirated CD.Take the story idea and make a brand new malayalam movie.Sell it to Tamil and Telugu industry and earn lakhs of rupees.

Suresh,

I am not sure what you mean by 'Malayalam Films are rehashes of Tamil..', which all of us know is not true to a large extent. I do agree that off late there have been fewer Mal films noteworthy, but do not forget that a lot of Malayalam films have been copied to Kannada (maximum), Telugu and in Tamil. Of course, Mal directors sometimes make their own film remakes (Which I do not support at all), in search of some more money, but that does not mean that Mal films are borrowed. It is a known fact that Mal films produce quality films and top notch actors/actresses who are natural unlike other language actors, where over-acting is accepted. Dileep is one of the finest actors in Malayalam cinema and in India. OF course, this is his first venture into an action-revenge film, I am sure he would have done his best. Please, restrain yourself from making comments based on incomplete information. Even, people from Tamil like Mani Ratnam, Ilayaraja, Kamalhassan and A.R. Rehaman have showed their interest and love towards the movie making style and music of Mal film industry. Actors from Mal movie like Mohanlal, Mammootty and Jayaram have proved their metal in Tamil films as well.
