Why rdb is a great film
by Minu on Mar 01, 2006 12:58 AM

Why? -True it has that rare story that\'s not \"inspired\" by other languages. - True, directed excibited brilliance and can be compared to the great guns of indian Cinema like maniratnam.---True, for the first time in indian cinema, a white actress spoke hindi without making us want to never speak hindi again. ----True it had great music, excellent performances, editing, humor, sentiments, patriotism etc etc

But the reason RDB\'s what it is is Amir khan. Not because he has proven once again that he can act, but because he\'s the only actor in bollyood, maybe in the world that\'s secure enuf with his talent that he can let others take center stage. Like DCH amir has proven once again that he works for the good of the film. The fact that Siddharth had the better part in the climax puts me in awe of that great man who has done only 2 films in 5 years. Yet he has shared his film equally with budding extremely talented guys who could very well steal work from him in the future. Bravo Amir.

Rang de Basanti

I think I lived life in the truest sense only while I was watching Rang de Basanti. After returning to the extra-theatrical world, I feel schizophrenic.I don't seem to understand which world is more real -that in the film or outside it. This only shows how the characters are-larger than life.Siddharth,or Karan rather, has remained to haunt me, awake or asleep.I think, someday, I'll be able to say in retrospect, that this film has changed my life. I don't think anything will move me more after this.

Rang De Basanti...
by Prabal Agarwal on Feb 21, 2006 10:22 PM

The blockbuster of the year, Rang De Basanti..., is simply awesome and wonderful. It is a special movie required to be understood carefully. Unfortunately, the movie is the truth of our country. I disagree that the film preaches violence or potrays fiery revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh, Azad to force the youngsters to adopt methods of unthinking criminals. It provides the new generation with the idea that those revolutionaries gave- This is your nation. You are responsible for its backwardness and problems. Hence, its your duty to change it. Be a part of country's politics and revolutionarize the system.
I simply love the movie for its effective dialogues, melodious music, strong script and finally excellent acting by everybody. Especially DJs (Aamir Khan) character is interesting. The starting of the movie is very fascinating! The historical sequences about the freedom struggle were exciting. I admire Bhagat Singh and his compatriots from the inner core of my heart. Ive already watched the film 4 times and want to see more times! Hence, Rang De... is an appreciable and inspiring movie for young patriots. However, the handling of the important climax by the director leaves a lot to be desired.
Anyways, best of luck for the Oscars!
