May God forgive her sins and rest her soul in peace. Anyway thanks rediff.com to put some light on her past and the last days of her life. You people sometimes touch our hearts with such emotional articles.
In a recent Cine Blitz Magazine article, Nadira said that eventhough Filmfare awards said no remakes will be nominated in any category, Mother India, a remake of Aurat, was nominated and won many awards.
It goes to show that Filmfare Awards was inconsistent then also.
Unlike the trite coverage on mainstream newspapers, atleast the writer of this piece thought it appropriate to add the right amount of sentiment and empathy to an actress of yesteryears. Nicely worded ! Good work !!
Though she was past her prime before I was born, I remember watching her old hits on television and my parents telling me what a dare devil she was, of how she used to do so many of her own stunts which even leading men and stut men did not have the courage to attempt. And now as I read about her sad plight, I pray to the good Lord to bless her. It is indeed sad and shameful that barring a few like Dipti Naval, none of the film fraternity has paid her a visit.I,for whatever my supplications are worth, wish her well.Amen.
I am a great admirer of Nadira - the actress - who personified the strength and boundless courage of a woman. She indeed was a lady well ahead of our times - in fact, of all times.
I pray God Almighty to take away bodily agony and discomfort of this noble lady and give her a comfortable life soon.
Thanx Rediff for doing a roundup on yesteryear actress Nadira.
Most of the time we get to hear about these wonderful actors after they are dead. Thats so sad. We worship them when they r young and ruiling and just forgets them once they take saniyas from the silver screen. and again a couple of tributes on their death anniversaries and after that ERASE.
This is Human.
Like Nadiraji, so many yesteryear actresses might be in bad conditions (god forbid) or may be on death bed. Just the other day I was remembering about good old actors and actresses we dont get to hear of.
We dont often get to hear about Rajesh Khanna, Helen, Rakhee, for that matter even Dilip Kumar and Saira Ji, and where is Padmini Kolhapure, Ranjeeta, Sarika, Reena Roy and so many talented and everlasting actors?...till something BAD happens to them.
Today we are praising Shahrukh, Salman, Aamir, Hrithik, Priyanka, Kareena and so many....but whats in store for them once they are old and wrinkled...No one knows. And we 'supposedly' fans care less too.
Thanx Rediff. Wish to know about many other known actors of gone era.
How on earth could your writer Priyanka Jain forget to mention Nadira's famous and stunning entry-film Aan ? Where a young and rustic Dilip Kumar oozing male charm, singing in Md Rafi's naughty voice,"Maan mera ehsaan are naadan ke maine tujhse kiya hai pyaar" romances a haughty and beautiful princess Nadira? And finally, even after getting whip-lashes from her, makes her eat out of his hand ? Produced by Mehboob, Aan is a film, if re-released today, can once again make the kind of waves it did in its time- the suave and inviting Dilip Kumar, the bold and brazen Nadira dressed in extremely chic clothes, her shimmering wavy hair falling silkily upon her shoulders, and which she arrogantly tossed aside, and of course the slender Nimmi craving Dilip kumar's love. Nadira has always been different, intelligent and classy; it never mattered that she did negative roles. Like in Durga Khote, one could see real stature in her, which Raj Kapoor deeply respected. One hopes Nadira gets well- and when her end comes, may she go without pain ... But before that, can somebody please arrange for a retrospective of her films- beginning with Shri420 and ending with Aan ? Surekha Tenneti Vngopal
Dear Friends, Nadira sure was a lady quite ahead of time. Its nice to know that young actors as well as older ones still take out the time to visit her. Kudos to the neighbours who have not forgotten her.I hope n pray for her recovery. Love, MIlI.
