I thought we were part of a democratic system and had right to express our views to the society. These objections make me think otherwise.
Iam a biggest aamir khan fan.I just dont understand y his movies r always under the scanner for some reason or the other. This doesnt often happen with other stars.I think this is a move to axe his movies
Whats wrong with us ? We seem to object to everything. Have we completely lost any tolerance for *anyone* else's point of view if it does not concur with ours ? I really do not know what the point raised is or what was said in the film, but to me it seems that the IAF crashes and their response to them is certainly NOT a black and white issue. So if filmmaker X or editor Y or author Z wants to explore and question it from certain angles - even if they appear biased to the IAF - you cannot demand that it not be done. Whatever happened to democracy ? Let's not go the US way.
This is a very valid and serious issue raised by the IAF.
Similarly the Indian Police is also depicted in a very insulting and comical way as if they are jokers in the Bollywood movies. They are shown in a very bad light and severely demotivates anybody working in the Police force. The Police force is in reality a defense force but working within the country and maintains law and order.
As Indian movies show up the Indian culture all over the world where they are screened, the Directors/ Producers must show their sensitivity in such matters.
Also the Indian Censor Board must put its foot down for such a vagrant depiction in the movies. It must shift its focus from Love scenes to these sensitive issues.
In every other country around the world the Police and Defence force is given maximum respect and treated with utmost dignity .
There is no reason why thsi cannot be done in India.
Not unusal for the defence forces to get defensive whenever someone tries to pin point serious weaknesses among their midst - we all know Defence leadership is among the most corrupt in the country but try convincing a 3 star General about it and he would go all frothy trying to get you Court Martialled !
It is a sad fact that our Air Force peace time mortality rate is among the highest in the world. Whether its due to poor equipment purchase or lack of proper maintenance/spare parts, dozens of valuable life and millions of dollar worth equipment are lost each year due to crashes. Its time the Air Force came to terms with their own inefficiencies and do a cleaning up act. And if a film tries to depict the situation accurately, the IAF should take it as a learning and move on rather than acting squeamish !
Or else we would soon see all sections of society raising banners of protest about the way their way of life is portrayed in the movies and try to censor them ! Then we can rever to the silent movie era for good
