Award Nonsense
by Prerna on Apr 05, 2006 04:14 PM

I think the awards almost all of them should be dubbed as the Roshan-Johar-Chopra-Bhansusali-Khan or RBKJC awards.
Most of these people think we are jokers and cannot understand that awards are bought and sold by the drop of a hat. Some would want to believe that in this field of make-belief, we can actually be taken for a ride. No harm in beliving if they are true. I mean how can you have a supporting role with Ayesha Kapoor, pitted with Sharmila Tagore? The young lass calls Big B,Amitabh instead of the usual "Amitji." We are all understand that there are actors who are trying to add mirth to the characters, but a few dim lights and a few screeches later, it difficult to imagine that we have pint sized actors and actresses with plastic smiles taking home statuettes almost as if each was in the race to join Guiness.
We even watch these while surfing through other channels, only for new looks and styles that Bollywood faulters to promise. The real winners have to be satisfied with the "critics awards". We have actors and midget sized actresses thanking the entire production for nothing. Why don't you just rename the awards to RBKJC awards, at least we can do justice to the name!

There are enough awards for enterpreneurs, students and people risking their lives.. The problem is that people are not as much interested in watching those award ceremonies as they are in watching movie awards (and the latest television awards, like star parivar.. nobody gives them an award so they awards to themselves hahaa)

Lindsey Pereira deserves award
by Lalitha.S on Mar 10, 2006 10:03 AM

The author deserves an award for her spot-on comments. Most award shows are as banal as the movies that get awards.I have noticed that the ensemble actors in small but significant roles don't get awards-there is no category other than two slots for supporting actors. For example Akhilendra Mishra was great inhis significant role as Mirchi seth in Sarfarosh. There are so many examples.

Thats right

One can always guess which is gonna be the best film as well as actor and director.

If yash chopra made a movie this year - its gonna swipe all the awards. People just watch the shows for the glamour and the performances. The awards are just for them to give and receive.

what a joke
correct
by what a joke on Feb 16, 2006 09:41 AM

you know i couldn't agree with this article anymore. it was boggling my mind that we have way too many award functions and some times oh sorry almost all the time award function doesn't make sense. i am talking about best actor award. keep in mind it's called best acting award then why does srk gets an award every time he cries like stupid baby. following are the list of movies where he acted the same way and won an award: dilwale dulhania, kuch kuch.. , dil to pagal hai, devdas, main hoon naa, veer zaara, mohabbattein. this makes me sick. it's a complete disgrace. i would take all the awards back and give him only one for crying. i also watched 2002 filmfare award function. trust me looks like even the stars don't care. we got cheesy dancing where nobody pays any attention. then hosts come up with humor which are so stupid that it would make nobody laugh. then they give away awards to everyone not based on talent but based on how many release they have had. as for KNPH it deserved 102 award, becasue it's by far the first and last perfect film i have seen. it pissed me off everytime when srk gets an award becasue after watching hollywood actor i have realized that he can't act

Very true...!
by sak on Feb 12, 2006 04:36 AM

So true that the award shows have really become a joke in the recent years...anybody & everybody goes away with an award..whether they deserve it or not doesn't matter...sometimes even special categories are instituted...there is no credibility left with these award shows..its all just publicity,Trp & sponsorship...
Hats off to u for putting into words the voice of many people who think alike..me being one of them...
Nice way of expression !!

I agree with this. The awards should be given to students, researchers, entrepreuners. It would be a great moral boost for those.
