Copy Cats Neeraj Vohra & Anees Bazmi
by Neelam on Dec 13, 2006 01:10 AM  | Hide replies

How can one claim the credit for Story and ScreenPlay when they copy movies from other languages frame by frame?

Well, some people have made their career in Hindi movies exactly on that!

Neeraj Vohra (several Malayalam films were copied by him, including Hera Pheri, Malaamal Weekly etc)

Anees Bazmi (He was a 'writer' once, remember?) He copied Mani Ratnam's early Tamil hits and countless other Tamil & Telugu films and called them his own, before turning to direction. Here again, he copied most of the time (Hollywood: French Kiss became Pyar To Hona Hi Tha) and Kamal Hassan's Tamil hit Pancha Tantram became No Entry!

David Dhawan: This page would not be enough to list his list of copies from Tamil and Telugu films.

Whilst these guys are stealing from neighbours, Priyadarshan copies from his homeland Kerala.. mostly from other writers and directors.

I am glad that this time the original writer from kerala claimed his money! (he had to fight for it, see?) It's guys like Mahesh Bhatt & Co (who are the major offenders), who want Bollywood to be recognised as an industry! Well, welcome to copyright laws, Bandits!

TRUE TO A GREAT EXTENT BUT...

I too agree that almost all the bollywood superhits are now copied from malayalam and tamil. But we must remember one thing if an industry can gain profit from this then there is nothing wrong in it. The only thing they must do is to give the credit of the story to the real author and pay him a descent amount that they have fixed for writer of the film. Good films must be remaked in hindi because then it will be noticed all over India.RAMJI RAO SPEAKING was a blockbuster at Kerala. But only the south indians knows about it. After it became HERA PHERI everyone knows about it and lots of money was gained from it. So there is nothing wrong to borrow to keep an industry profitable. Priyadarshan is not such a guy who is earning from other's works, that is a misunderstanding. Okay his Hera Pheri is copied from SIDHIOQUE-LAL but it was with their consent.Priyadarshan is one of the greatest director of Kerala. He had the record of most hit films as a director. He had directed lots & lots of malayalam films in this 25 years and only 2 films (Akkare akkare akkare & Vettam) have flopped. The interesting part is all the comedy films of malayalam today are a copy of old hits of priyadarshan.
