Its really worth watchable once, Timing of the actor is really good. I dont think so, they have copied the whole tamil or any other movie. They have adopted the nativity correctly.
Mr. Sarathi, your article had too many factual errors. The Kamal - Jayaram starrer was not Thenali Raman but just Thenali. Jyothika and Devayani were the leading ladies in that movie. Coming to the Kannada version, if the story is anything like what you have written, then it is actually the remake of a Mohanlal - Sreenivasan Malayalam Comedy named 'Pattana Pravesam'. The Tamil version came much later and Prabhu was the lead actor in that. Please correct me if I am wrong! G. Raj

Let me tell you one thing, Kannadigas are not defined by Kannada Cinema!, we support supirior art forms such as litrature, theater, dance, music and architecture. Obviously idiots like you don't know.
Kannadigas are matured and secured enough to respect and appreciate other cultures, on that, I think Malyazham movies from late 80s and early 90s were great, including Nadodi Kattu and so is Mohan Lal we have no problems admiting that.
But DARE you use the word YUCKY anywhere near Kannada, you KING/Pathetic Looser from Kerala or Tamil Nadu or whereever!, teach your clan to speak English first, and ask loosers like you to get that hell out of Bangalore and Karnataka, which are getting YUCKY because of infiltration of people like you.
This film 'TenaliRama' may be the remake of Tamil film 'Kathanayakan' released 15 years ago, but certainly both these films are copy cats of Malayalam super hit comedy released in 1987 starring Mohanlal, and Sreenivasan. This film titled 'Nadodikaatu' followed 2 sequels to it, 'Pattanapravesam' and 'Akkara Akkare Akkare', popularising the main characters 'Dasan' and 'Vijayan'. The latest sequel titled 'Dasanum Vijayanum' is under discussion.
This movie seems to be a copy of a tamil movie - Katha Nayagan, where Pandiyarajan and S.V.Shekar are promised jobs in Dubai and end up in Cochin. The tamil version is hillarious. Hope Tenali Rama matches that standard.

But originally the movie Kathanayagan was based on the 1987 superhit malayalam movie "Nadodikkattu" starring Mohanlal-Sreenivasan pair, where these 2 jobless youth are betrayed by a fake travel agent promising jobs in Dubai. But instead of Dubai they land at Chennai.
