Farhan's DOn is really a let down. And SRK as DON is realy a stupid idea. SRK is not even 1/10 th of Bachan. Lez give a thumbs down to the idea of remakin Bachan flicks. And Farhan, we xpect better from you.Let SRK leave alone with KARAN JOHAR.
Don-the chase begins is a great film.compared to the old don its much better.king khan proves his worth.the action sequences are great.good to see king khan in an action role.the twist at the end is superb.over all the film is EXCELLENT!!!!
this new DON may be hit on the basis of box office collection.but if we see the element of a real superhit movie,I doubt DON 2006 will be a real hit and be good on the expectations.
Remaking DON of Amitabh Bachchan, the greatest shall be very difficult. King Khan has to try and out do the Shahenshah and thats no easy task by any standards and even SRK knows that.
A fluke hit and this guy thinks that he owns the world. A remake of Don with SRK who is half the size of Amitabh, Priyanka who is plain Miss Plain Jane Brown as Zeenie Baby, and above all, KAREENA The crocodile jawed one as Helen. Even now Helen at 70 or 75 is more sensual than Kareena can ever hope to be! What is disaster!
Farhan Akhtar seems to have run out of story ideas, which made him to remake the legendary Don. Chandra Barot, the original director and producer Nariman Irani (who is no more) will be cursing him to no end. A classic is a classic...no matter how you remake it, people will always remember the vintage film. A 'Sholay' is made once in a lifetime, similarly 'Don','Mughal-e-Azam',and scores of other films come in that classic category. People will flock to see Shahrukh Khan out of curiousity, but if the film is marketed well, like flooding prints in the multiplexes, people may see it once. But it will not have repeat audience, that is a guarantee. Farhan will I think remake 'Mahaan,' 'Laawaris,' 'Muqaddar Ka Sikandar' and other gems of Amitabh. Because, Farhan is a bad director. One fluke : Dil Chahta Hain does not make him a director in the genre of greats.
The votes are in and the verdict is out.... Don is a FLOP !!!! Even if it does manage to rake in the moolah.... Same way that KANK sucked but managed to recoup the greenbacks....
Why would anyone want to go see DON... 1) To see how the character of DON is replaced by SRK who is playing himself.
2) To see enough skin and cleavage by saddi PC - well havent we seen that already in Krissh????
3) To see how Farhan finally comes down from his pedestal after being loved for DCH...
Re-making of a film except for technical matters is not a big score for any director or maker of a film. The old DON was a master piece making of which could have been a herculean task for those who were involved in making of the masterpiece.
The new DON has the only plus point is in the role played by SRK.
It is easy for Javed Akhtar to say that remake of Sholay shud not be attempted because the said legendary film has left no gap for modern film makers to attempt a remake.
I think his outburst is coming out of Ramgopal Verma,s idea some time back to remake SHOLAY. This film too has storyline from Javed.
Javek Akhtar is affected by 'Putraprem' syndrom I suppose. If remake of Sholay would have been attempted by Farhan, Javed would have his full support.
Ours is a free country.A film can be made and remade. When new ideas are going junk, a man thinks of making a remake.
SRKs interview to a channel publicising viewing the new DON by AB is a classical case of vindictiveness that is DON THEN AND NOW. AB THEN AND SRK NOW.
