A lot reviews i've read and see that the average viewer is not given to thinking seriously about the charactors. DEV and Maya are two imperfect persons; inferiority complex being their main problem. They have two perfect and psychologically healthy persons as spouses. This is pretty intolerable for them. So, Maya shuns her husband and Dev searches for excuses to find fault with Rhea all the time. It makes them feel a lot better with each other since both know they are imperfect; makes for better empathy and easy affection and tolerence for each other. Then love blossoms between them. Okay, we audience find them not as nice as Rishi and Rhea. But they are good for each other. That's exactly what Karan wanted to tell us. By the way, what is so sacred and saintly about Rishi please? The man professed undying love for his wife and simply turned to the leggy Catherine in a short while and was callous enough to invite his ex wife to be his best man at the wedding! KANK is a thought provoking film. lastly, please do NOT confuse a role with performance. Abhishek had a reasonably good man's role and SRK a hopeless guys role. Both were adequate in performance. Prashanti
Please give back my money you thug. It was the most riduculous movie ever made in history. Now we know how his movies were a hit. Perhaps his dad had a big part to play. Sorry Karan you suck and sucked.
Way to go Tasneem!!! I know Yashji is a great commercial moviemaker and some of his movies like Lamhe were indeed class acts. The 'Yash Factory of Romance' was also instrumental on getting 40 year old Rahuls wearing GAP, A&F in our DESI campuses and playing college kids...hell!Xaviers never looked so good!;) But, seriously, after movies like Swadesh, RDB, DCH, Lakshya hitting the Indian screens and getting cult status, isn't it time that this glorious factory bids adieu to bikes, brands and dreamy campuses and produce more thoughtful cinema? Even Black was a good remake - too bad Sanjay B didn't acknowledge that even in the DVD special features when it's obvious! probably suffering from Anu Mullick fever. :) Also, I seriously think desi directors like Ghais, Chopras should stop potraying NRIs or American lifestyle the way they do presently! Most of the DESIS in US, Canada or even elsewhere actually work their butts off trying to make a living than rolling in bed in their Silk PJs,sipping Starbucks and watching DVDs 24/7 or even clubbing 7 days a week! Also ABCD women are not exactly dumbasses, completely oblivious of their cultural hertiage..and all firangi women are not fluzies!!
I totally agree with the above review.I saw the whole movie completely trying to figure why Rani hates Abhishek, a guy who is potrayed as a successful, loving ,passionte lover. Instead she finds love in and irritating guy, who is so negative, yells at everyone including a cute kid and is a major eyesore.I think Karan has failed as a director, and Shah Rukh as an actor. What's with the monkey faced crying when Preity confornts him?He is so full of himself,be it Devdas,or Mohabatteinn or any another Candy floss flick, he is never the character. He is Shah rukh, pompous and snobbish. The only 2 films where he came close to being a bit subtle and close to being a good actor were Dil se and Swadesh. Karan what's with that black beast scene! was such a pain to watch. Amitabh was such a waste.First time that I actually did not like Bacchan Sahab. But Abhishek made up for that. Please Karan and Shahrukh wake up.The Indian viewers are not like your UK fan-base. They have moved on. Karan, you may rake in the money, but please give up direction and stick to production.
After reading all the reviews so far, I have come to a conclusion: sometime during the inception of this story, someone must have mixed up the names of the characters and their progress in the storyline. From what I have read about each character, it seems to me that Abhishek and Preity had more reason to have an extra marital affair than the other two.
Karan, please retire frm making films. You have made a horrible film and please hang up your boots - so that you may never dare to make a movie. I don't know what your movie tried to convey...oh dear... I think you need go back to schools and take some training from RGV and Vishal Bharadwaj. The other worst thing about the movie - apart from the director- is SRK, playing Dev. SRK was better in 'Ram Jaane', 'Guddu', 'Duplicate', 'Zamana Deewana' and 'Army'. I and my friends have decided not to watch any KJ movie hereafter.
