movie is too candy floss
by kamala on Aug 27, 2006 09:32 PM

I liked this review very much as it mirrors what I myself felt abt the movie. This is not a M&B romance though the director tried to show infidelity as such. Why are the leads so happy to stray without any guilt towards their respective spouses? And we are asked to sympathise with them?

This is just trivialising marriage and it is not so simple in any culture...

Disgusting Movie 2
by Debashri on Aug 26, 2006 06:16 AM

4) SRK and Rani think their spouses are having an affair with each other, they are angry! If they are so possessive of their spouses, why do they want to leave them? Strange na? They don't love their spouses, make their lives miserable, have affairs themselves and YET... cannot bear their spouses being happy. It is as if,SRK's and Rani's motive in the movie is to make Preity and Abhishek unhappy.

5) Right at the beginning of the movie, SRK and Rani share some 'thoughts'!!! Can you think of any bride-to-be, who shares her intimate thoughts with a stranger, just like that?

By the way, KJ wanted us to believe that SRk's character was bitter because he had an injury.... well, he was shown to be bitter and rude and insensitive and disgusting even before the injury. He doesn't want his wife to be successful, doesn't want her to be happy. Any good thing makes him unhappy. Dev and Maya turn out to be the most stupid and insensitive characters that we have seen in a long time. But yes, I LOVED the climax.... Dev and Maya deserved to be with each other... they could at last get a dose of their own medicine that way! :)

KJ, you have done better in the past. Go back to your roots.

Disgusting movie!!!
by Debashri on Aug 26, 2006 06:04 AM

I hated the movie. I hated the way SRK was presented in the movie. It was even worse than his 'Raam Jaane' role. When I think of the movie, I can only think of the top 5 worst scenes:
1) SRK asks Rani whether she likes diamonds and then tells her to ask her husband to buy them for her. What kind of a jerk would do that to someone he loves? And the wife doesn't feel the smallest amount of guilt or anger at her lover making such an insensitive statement!!!
2) The 'joke' by SRK at the dinner table! It was atrocious. What was his intent? He keeps hurting everyone around him, because he had a surgery and cannot play anymore. Agreed, one can be bitter because of such an incident. But he/she cannot go and blame the entire world for it.
3) SRK and Rani mistake Amitabh and Kirron Kher to be having an affair - they are angry. The protagonists are so narrow minded that they cannot even think about their widowed parents having friends amongst the opposite sex, but they, being married, have no qualms about having an affair!!!!!!

Need to write another message... no space on this one... next two points follow

Does this movie really justify basis for love , friendship & matrimony??
by vidya menon on Aug 24, 2006 05:28 PM

Right from the day i saw the promos for this movie,i was excited becoz i was a sucker for love stories.i was teased to carry the whole pack of tissues and stuff.there i was sitting happily to c my fav cast and director's most awaited movie and boom!!i was so disappointed..i told myself that Karan makes movies close to his heart..But was this his view on Infidelity.God.no ways.Karan i love the movie as a movie per se.. but i dont c any serious emotions.. explain y Maya is like this..she seriously deserves Dev.. he is absolute torture..U said in K2H2..that pyaar dosti hai..then y insult friendship by cheating on Rishi?? y not have the guts to tell the truth and then walk out and then sleep with another man..We could have handled raw emotions we could have handled if Maya was truthful and walked out on Rishi. The part i hated was that even when they retured back they did so becoz they felt that they had an obligation to do..nothing else and that hit hard.. Dev was Cold..Maya was cold and Rishi & Rhea were fools to love stone-hearted people. I agree that even i left with a hollow feeling in my heart.deep down i felt that the characters werent truthfully 2 love, friendship & matrimony

review of KANK
by shilpa on Aug 24, 2006 05:14 AM

I totally agree with Sumier Phalake. I could just not figure what on earth Mr Johar was trying to do. If he cant be "different" I think its worthless wasting such huge sums of money trying to be. For heaven's sake KAran ur characters of rani n khan were just not justified especialy that of rani. god !! such a ...
anyways please continue with ur candy floss which ur best at and leave being different to other directors who are way too above in dealing with mature (in true sense) subjects.

NO thanks for a horrifying KANK ....
