I believe that Suman Mukhopadhyay's Bengali feature
HERBERT should have won the best feature film this
year. Anybody who has seen the scene where the Odessa
steps massacre scene from Battleship Potemkin is
juxtaposed with a shot of the Presidency College stairs
should agree.

Subrata Majumdar
National Award
by Subrata Majumdar on Aug 29, 2006 04:29 PM

I feel that Mithun Chakraborty should have been awarded with the best supporting actor award for his intense, powerful and excellent performance in Kaalpurush. What Naseerudding Shah has done in Iqbal is no doubt very good but not an award winning performance. He has done this kind of performance quite a few times before also. But Iqbal cannot be a National Award winning performance. It can be a Filmfare and other awards. I believe that Mithun has done brilliant justice to the father's role in Kaalpurush

Mohanlal denied a National award
by Nachiappan on Aug 28, 2006 02:35 PM

In an era where Anil Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan get awards as best actors it is not hard to believe that Mohanlal has not been selected for the best actor national warad.Over the years the movies made with wider audience(in terms of number of prints) are getting thejury's nod. This will definitely have discouraging effects on actors representing languages like Bengali,Malayalam and the like where unparalleled perfomances have become an habit for actors in the genre of Mohanlal.Atleast in the years to come the national award should stand out and be distinct from those of Filmfare,Screen and IIFA awards where the thrust is on popular Hindi Cinema.Hope the generations to come would not be deprived of encouragement to applauid good art and artistes.

for people who dont know much abt MOHANLAL
by RITESH on Aug 27, 2006 08:54 AM

Director Priyadarshan rates MOHANLAL as the best actor in the world. Mani Ratnam says MOHANLAL is the most natural actor in India. During the shooting of Vanaprastham, a French Technician said that you(MOHANLAL) were born in the wrong side of the world(THE GREAT INDIA-which recognises true talent rarely!!!!!). if you were to be born in some other country, you may have already got the "Oscar". Indias finest and most talented actor living in this period.

words enclosed in the brackets are written by me.

Mohanlal deserves a National Award this time
by mishti on Aug 26, 2006 09:08 PM

If Mohanlal does not get a National award for Thanmatra, it would be MOST UNFAIR. Whether it is a Best Actor award or a Spl Jury award, fact is that he definitely deserves to win a National award this time.
