Mera Naam Raju
Main Theme is from movie ''Falling In Love'' (1984)
by Mera Naam Raju on Aug 28, 2006 07:00 PM

The main theme for this movie has been taken from an old english movie Falling in love (1984) starring Meryl Streep. You can do a google search on it. The movie is Indianised with jokes, songs, great actors etc. the usual dressing.
Well, just look at it from entertainment purpose. Do not take the story home. Leave it in the theater itself.

maturity
by Sai on Aug 24, 2006 08:50 AM

This is a very mature movie. It dares to show the main characters as illogical, childish and selfish. It dares to show how their behaviour can inflict pain on others.
Are you trying to say that every one in the world is mature and logical and kind and unselfish. They are not, most people have a lot of selfish and mean charcteristic which comes out in one form or the other. This movie shows an expression of such characteristic that we all humans have. Watch it for what it is and try not to be like that.

Ha ha ! there was no sobbing for me while seeing this film, the characters are bound to cry as the script demands it so is the marriages not working. I fail to understand Rani passion only towards SRK, may be if you are a failure you have to marry only a failure ! The story drags to a implausible extent on infidelity, I felt I am watching a wife swapping saga(Thank god Preity & Abishek are sane). Only saving grace is good locales & cinematography !

Watch it if you like Blue !

Namaste Abhishek Asthana,

I agree you in all points - and furthers comment to this film, sometimes I can`t believe that Maya (Rani) has so a boring character in this film and to much tears on screem why?
Both represent nevertheless a character, which should make them lucky. The common way, the dialogues are very well only fit they not the represented Charaktern - too little passion - too little real contact.
It was very amusing & pleasing to see Amitabji character in this film.
I realy missed light colour in this film - I still prefer and love the song Mitwa it is the best.

i happened to watch the film yesterday.it is the wost film of Karan Johar.if Karan wants to show that SRK's and Rani's love is pure love(they will wait for 3 years unecessarily) why will the make love before confessing to their spouses.i think kal ho na ho was better

I totally agree. Both Dev and Maya's characters were so flippant and unconvincing. And if the movie had ended at where Abhishek asks Rani to be his best man, not only would you have cut on the length, but you would also have had the courage to say that yes your protagnists were 'in the grey', yes they had hurt people due to their selfishness and thus the last people to actually forgive them would have been their wronged spouses. You seemed to have glorified Dev and Maya's love by reuniting them at the end of the movie. I do agree that love outside a marriage can happen, and no one can really say whether it is all wrong or right. But in the case of your movie, wherein all through the movie you try to show them in shades of grey, you made them totally 'SPARKLING WHITE' in the end just by justifying their acts due to a three year penance! It almost seemed as though you had to protect SRK's image, and make sure that he had a happy ending. The only people who deserved a happy ending in this movie where Abhishek and Preity.

KANK,a mature subject dealt with all the immaturity
by huma on Aug 23, 2006 03:06 PM

u r right.i didn't find one good reason why Maya and Dev were the way they were? the topic of KANK needed much more maturity and vision than what was given to it.it seemed all the team was in a holiday mood and thay were working only for fun.Shahrukh and Rani are such wonderful actors but their talent has been wasted. Karan, its high time that instead of giving all the attention to Designer clothes and elaborate sets u start paying attention to your movie's stories and the way they are made.Only having a good recipe is not enough, the food becomes nice and proper when u prepare it properly.

KJ,
Thanks to you for your thinking . It breaks the so-called myth of hypocracy of indian society . Also It starts where SILSILA ended . Acting wise RANI is simply best . Amitabh , Abhishek very good . Shahrukh and Preti same as KHNH or Veer Zaara . Nice to watch surprisingly John , Arjun and Kajol . What about Urmila ? Earlier in rediff we have seen that she is also part of guest appearence .
Keep on making such excellent movies .

Very good review Abhishek. No doubt Sanjay Sankla is responsible for dragging the movie in the second half particularly with the title song. KANK minus half an hour in last 2nd half would have been a great viewing. Even the secret of Sr.Bachchan's stubble is not known to any.

I am sure the jr.bachchan should carry from where sr.has left in all tough kind of rolls. Only this will justify his stubble face.
