Ignoring criticism
by arun on Aug 06, 2006 07:20 PM

What is the point in sharing comments when you are not ready to
publish it, if the comments are criticising the reviewer. If you are only
ready to publish sugar-coated comments, then please state so. Either
you guys should have the courage to publish criticism from readers or
remove this "genrous" share-your-comments thingy alltogether.

in my previous post yesterday, i pointed out the bias of Paresh when
reviewing Mohanlal's movies. Rediff conveniently suppressed it. Why?
Instead you guys should have checked his previous reviews about
Mohanlal movies and you would have realised yourself what i was
talking about.

Come on, "ignore" this comment too. What else you guys could do?

It is a good film. We can enjoy every part of it. Especially Camando operations and two songs (hindi& Malayalam). Major Ravi did a good job.

Are you a Pakistan spy or a mamooty fan?

The film is very much from the perspective of Kashmir and not Kargil.
The gang rape which is being depicted is what occurs in the valley. It could be gruesome but by not mentioning it in the perspective of the people of Kashmir is just like covering a hole using darkness

Sorry 2 Disagree

its strange that a movie as keerthichakra is being heralded as commendable. the efforts behind it are noteworthy, at its best, but neither laudable nor significant. its too apparent that patriotism is not in the film maker's minds that is further emphasised by cliches galore and the ghastly gang rape that is nothing less than revolting.

we have had any number of war films, and umpteen ones on kargil already, and keerthichakra is no match up to several of those head-turners. at best, it cud perhaps quench a Lal-obsessed viewer's thirst. ntohing more.

films are far from real life
by doctor haridas on Aug 06, 2006 12:25 AM  | Hide replies

films are meant for entertainment , keerthichakra lives up [only up] to that level. One should watch documentaries in BBC , CNN or Star plus if you are looking for true facts .Don't blame the film to be far from from reality

Paresh's partiallity
by arun on Aug 05, 2006 07:00 PM

Hi Paresh,

When it comes to comment about Mohanlal, undoubtedly one of the
finest actors in India, you seem to find all lame excuses to describe "
him.

"The casting of Mohanlal as the protagonist is near perfect though
people may complain that his bulky physique doesn't suit the role of a
commando."

Which people are you talking about? i have also seen the movie and
met many who watched it. No one have such a view. So which people
sir?

Why do you have to focus on his physical appearance when you have
to review about his acting. This is not the first time you have
deliberatly trying to pull down a superb actor. It would be better for
you to re-read your past reviews regarding Mohanlal pictures. I
haven't come accross such sort of appearance-discussion when you
review the movies of other Malayalam actors. why? may i know? Please
talk about the way one acts. give credit where it is due. Millions of
Malayalees love this actor not because of his glamour, but because of
his incredible acting capability.

Having said that, i have to thank rediff for the excellent backing for
this wonderful actor from time to time, especially through Shobha
Warrier's articles. Thanks

However the review could be treated, it missed the most important point... the finesse and authenticity which commando operations are filmed.. this film is matchless.. the way major ravi had captured the diabolic mix of tension and clinical precision in those action sequences is quite novel to the indian screen... critics have to stop raving about mohanlal's acting skills.. he has reached a stage that needs to be taken for granted...again due credit to be given to jeeva who gave his best shot to get closer to the thespian frame to frame.. ravi would have sought some external help in scripting as sequencing lacks smoothness... whatever... though jingoistic by parts, the film is indeed a landmark one, in terms of the look, feel and absolute presentation...
