i found it to be a brilliant film. the story line adhered to the original play , the music is brilliant, an i dont see any reason as to why should women feel bad about the movie. kudos to the director for churning out such marvellous performanmces from the actors and for braving such a great project.

A brilliant movie. Good performance be the leading
actors. Wonderful music. Every one should see the
film. Why women should feel offended by a film. We should object to these kind of treatment/illtreatment
in real life instead of making issue of a film. This
film should be an eye opener to the real situation
but sadly we evade the real problem instead of
facing and fighting for it.

Omkara - is an adaptation and hence the ending. There is no point in women critisicing the ending or the story line of the movie.

Language Content - Although profane, the truth is, people do use this language in the Real Everyday World. Movies such as Company, Satya etc.. have gone on to score well with the same languge.

Dialect - Punjabi ... is widely used in indian cinema, rather OVER USED! ... it is a pleasure to hear a different vernacular. India is Blessed with an array of cultures and languages... so why not embrace that and appreciate a specturm of languages... as opposed to criticising it...

Family Audience - This is just a load of BS.
The family audience will go to watch a domestic upheavel in KANK ? But not Omkara ?
Its simple.. keep the children at home.. they dont need to watch every single movie that comes out?? Bollywood is making movies such as Krish and Hanuman for their entertainment...

Omkara - is an applausable film. Give it the reivew it deserves.

The movie seems to remind u of the traditional culture tht probably still prevails in rural areas of India. The way women are doubted upon by men in this modern era as well...The language suits the setup, the UP style way of talking but then there wasnt a need to input so much of the abusive language.U really cant watch out one such movie with ur family..overall an average movie!!!

havent watched the movie yet. if the problem is the language, why should it be termed as offensive to women.

anyway for someone from south, it is heartening to see at least some GOOD movies being made(according to reviewers).

offending woman in OMKARA
by SHREEHARSHA on Aug 07, 2006 07:47 PM  | Hide replies

Forget offending Woman, the movie itself is not watchable, not because of the dialect or anything, the story is not strong enough to hold the audience in the seat.
It is so boring and such a tragic end that, more than offending woman it glaringly projects as to what happens when a man does not use his brain and introspecting capabilities properly.
Accolades to the actors who have done an excellent job, but thumbs down to the director who has not handled the story properly.
Bottom line, not a watchable movie.
For those who plan to watch the movie,
U LOSE NOTHING IF U DONT WATCH THIS MOVIE.

SHREEHARSHA - You are basically saying Shakespeare's Othello is not a strong story as Vishal has just adapted that in a different flavor. You are offending die hard Shakespeare's fans by saying this. If you don't like the movie, fine... just don't insult the greatest dramatist of all time.
