I had read the story before but this review makes the film even more interesting. It looks like After "Saransh" , this is again a " Hatke(different)" movie by Anupam Kher and also by Urmila. They surely deserve the credit.
MGKNM is a landmark movie. Bhansali's BLACK and Bhandarkar's Page3 have definitely raised the bar in Indian Cinema and this one jumps much above it. It is such a sensitive story that if the direction or acting even goes 1% wrong, you will have the audience mocking and jeering instead of applauding. But the movie takes the challenge head-on and grips the audience so tightly that everyone will have their mouths dry by the time the movie ends. Himmat karne waalon ki kabhi haar nahin hoti.... you will remember this line for your life after watching this movie. Bravo Anupam, Bravi Barua !! And finally Urmila manages to convince us all that she is a genuine actress. She has been fighting all this while with Pinjar, Naina, Bhoot and Tehzeeb to prove to us she is an actress not just a heroine. And she proves it to the hilt in this one. Flawless performance !! In fact, it is hard to find anything wrong with this movie. It is much better compare to Iris and has a bigger canvass. Iris was focussed entirely on the life of a human being... MGKNM blows up and encompasses society, patriotism and gandhian values while never losing focus of the psychological aspect. Brilliant !! Outstanding !!
I remember havin seen saransh ages ago. Those were the days when dd monopolised the airways. Anyways saransh left an indellible impression on me. Even though i was very young i was engrossed and couldnt take my eyes off the screen. The movie grew on me and today i would go as far as sayin that it was a pathbreakin effort.Anupam kher was nothin short of brilliant.Unfortunately he couldnt replicate that effort essayin mindless roles like dr dan instead. I hope this movie is as good as that movie.I would also like to cogratulate the producers and the directors.
Hi Sukanya. I haven't seen the movie so I can't comment on that, but I was thinking about the way you have written the article. The main things that I liked about it were: 1. Cohesiveness. 2. No statement goes unexplained as if it was just thrown in. Brevity does not mean cramping isolated ideas that leave the reader wondering if they meant anything, and you seem to understand this perfectly. 3. LOVED the sentence in paragraph# 11, "How did the Father Of The Nation get reduced to just a road, a stamp, and a statue?" Keep up the good work. Love, Amishi
Maine gandhi ko nahi Maara is an exceptionally well made film by Jahnu Barua, the National award winner Assamese director. Thge performances from all the artistes are too good. The screenplay is well written and above all it is ambience created on screen with the background music by veteran Bhappi Lahari makes this film stand apart. The film will pick up only on word of mouth publicity.
Dear Jahnu Barua I can always remember those silent eyes of yours always thinking of something. Here and yet not here. You have proved it once again. I mean your class. As wished by the reviewer, hope we will continue to see more of your work.
granny sukanya! pls grow up dont exaagerate things ,pls stop reviewing & find some better job.most of your review sucks big time .so stop reviewing & find some better job.

I havent seen the movie yet, but thanks to your wonderful review i am pretty excited to watch it. I really appreciated Kher's performance in Saaransh and from what i see here, he has another master piece in hand.
I have always trusted ur views and havent been led astray by you. Keep up the good work. :)
Before everybody gives accolade to the director or writer please note that this film is very similar to Marathi film made few years ago, so the credit should go to the Marathi film make. The main theme of the story the dual personality of an old age character is picked from that film and a similar treatment is given by the doctor in that film too, all this makes me think "Maine Half Story Copy ki Hey" - what say director??
