i dont know why people are raving about Black that much.. of course the acting is really good but the story and the scens (till first half) is the ditto copy of the movie Miracle worker which is based on the story of Annie basent and Florence nightengale...
The director of black knows how to copy a movie well ...
What did we want? >>>Audience appreciating the "real india and its true colors"
What happened at the Academy Awards? >> Viewers walked out starting from 15 minutes into our movie. Critics even considered it NOT worth commenting!! (They didnt watch it ofcourse)
Do you see a Gap?
I am not an expert in the subject. But a look at the above two points tells any man with a commonsense the following.
Paheli is a movie to be sent to the Global Tourism summit than to the academy awards. The gap is in the criteria of selection of the Oscar Award Committee and that of our Indian experts like yourselves. Why endure the ridicule.?
I saw some serious connection with your thinking and that of the Oscar Selectors. The Movie "CRASH" would be rated by YOU as "the light narcissistic with mega budget with a half-baked, often derivative and crucially flawed film"
Now you should know where the GAP is!!!
I thought, after looking at the result, you might venture out with another article on "why the Oscar Committee, doesnt know how to select good films"
Ah well, that's fair enough. It had to be you Mr Raja Sen for I have never seen a more stupid reviewer than you, being published on Rediff.com. So for obvious reasons, I let you defend your own stupidities.
But to tell you the truth, both of Paheli and Black are nonsense movies made by over-ambitious directors who misjudged their own abilities. None, yes none of these deserved to go for Oscars. If any movie did, it was Black Friday! Ask Shekhar Kapoor and see what he says!
There's no doubt that Paheli is a great, original (indian) fairy tale compared to Indian versions of English movies. So, undoubtedly Paheli is a better choice.
I couldn't agree more - I just loved Paheli. I first watched it after a delightful three-week trip to Rajasthan and it brought all those brilliant memories back. And yes, I am a Westerner - from Germany, to be quite exact - and I do hope that 'the West' will take to Paheli as much as we did to Amélie. I am not necessarily an SRK-fan but I think he did a great job in this film. As for Rani: To my mind she can't put a foot wrong. She quite simply is a great actress - and WHO says she isn't beautiful??? And then, just listen to that voice of hers ... . Thank God for subtitled OVs!
