I don't know if the writer had seen the movie, and if yes, whether he/she had paid enough attention. There is a scene in which the heroine clearly says that all the clothes are her own creation - cutting and joining bits and pieces of old clothes that she got from her employers. Probably, it is "the Rediff style" - to find faults even where none exists. After all, who wants to hear only good things, right?
RE:Explanation for the dresses was given in the movie

I support Bobby on this account. There is a scene in the movie that gives this explaination & it is simple. Meera works for the rich people as a maid & obviously the dress they use will be good (probably even designer ones) & she uses these dresses to design something for herself. Watch it again & try to follow the movie before commenting. For that matter in Hindi movies irrespective of whether the character is a college goer or a begger they are always in designer clothes. At least in Malayalam movies they are far more realistic. You have to appreciate that.
