Point 1: Legal downloads is a good idea. So accept my congratulations.
Point 2: But before launching such a path-breaking concept, Rediff should have put some efforts into the selection of musician as well as the pricing.
Sanjay Maroo is not the variety who would appeal to an audience that is downloading music on the net. People download popular music or musicians. That is perhaps the only criteria for illegal downloads. So what are Sanjay Maroo's credentials to be downloaded for 9.99 per song? (with what I have read on your portal, he seems to be an ordinary musician with no great credentials)
Therefore to have Sanjay Maroo to entice people for legal downloads is a bad idea
Point 3: Today, one can buy music CDs for as low as Rs.99/- from companies like T-Series and Venus of lesser known musicians. Sanjay Maroo fits in that category. So why do you think I should pay 9.99 per song online and not buy a CD?
Since Rediff and Maroo are saving huge costs on advertising and promotion, the same needs to be passed on to the consumers...
Point 4: Please rethink on this launch. Alternately discontinue this launch and relaunch with a better musician and better pricing
hii ya the idea is interesting. but will not work. tab tak , jab tak free music is avaialble ( illegal or legal ) is available on internet. who is going to spent say 100 bugs for the whole album when it can be downloaded at 0 price. Reduce the price or it will not work. Also many sites are offering free music saying that music is for demo purposes only. downloaded songs shd be delted within 48 hrs or so. but actually who cares. illegal offers in a legal way. Thats it.
Arre Bhai who is Sanjay Maroo. The artist is as unknown as the song he sings. Please also give on ur site the no of downloads. The only way to bring a revolution in the Indain music market is to keep Live Open Air Concerts. That will really be a boon to the music Industry as music is appreciated more when it is heard live. Also the ticket rates should be moderate so that a huge crowd can be enthralled. Bye
U nuts! Its a fantastic idea yall have stumbled upon. Legal downloads!! Fantastic. But you have screwed up on the pricing really. You think I would go ahead and download 11 songs for a Rs. 110, when I can coolly go into the nearest store and get a CD for myself? There are millions of users around the world who like their kind of music. We dont really buy all CDs even when we would love to. Internet is a great medium and you have clicked ont he right idea. Instead of keeping 10 bucks per song, keep a Rs. 20-30 tag on the whole album. I wouldnt mind at all downloading a whole Sonu Nigam album on my pc for Rs. 20. Imagine the number of internet users who would download the same album and the music company doesnt have any distribution and logistics costs involved. Imagine the market it would open up for newer singers, experimenters, etc.

some things to think about. 1) is your time worth anything ? You save on petrol, bus or train money going and getting the cd 2) you dont have to buy all the songs - generally people listen to 30% of the tracks in a CD - so you will pay only 30% or whatever you like. So you actually save
