Nice to see such good movie, and most importantly i came to know some good habits of Aurangzeb, lived on his own expense never dependent on his "khazana".

this kind of movie should be appreciated.who ever wrote the review of this movie , he seems to be a kid,i dont think any body can play the role of Aurangzeb better then Arbaaz.and Zulfi has done good work.

It's a lovely movie. Zulfikar is outstanding throughout the movie. His acting is superb - very sincere and mature. His entry is one of the best scenes in the movie alongwith the song 'aa bhi ja..dilruba'. Soniya Jehan has performed well too. She's very pretty. The music ofcourse is great and the film has been shot beautifully. In all, the movie's worth watching! Hats off!

Khan family does not have reputation of producing good epics
by abhijit on Nov 21, 2005 02:04 AM

Akbar khan and sanjay khan may have produced numerous hostorical serials or movies but they have always failed to give historical touch to them. All of their productions look stereotyped. It may be Akabar, great maratha, tipu sultan all of them look similar to me. History is always dominated by sluggish pace, pompous dialogues. Never we get anything to learn from their history-telling, never we realise the importance of the protagonists.
No wonder tajmahal is also similar

taj mahal

Bollywood directors have always had a soft corner for Mughal history. Akbar Khan is no exception.

He picked the making of the Taj Mahal for his theme and decided to weave in various interesting, if not enticing, facets of the empire -- fratricide, betrayal, lust for power and, most importantly, love. But what he failed to realise is that he would be dealing with a theme done to death not only in history books but in other media. This fact ought to have necessitated the use of out-of-the-world sets and special effects to leave an impression. Alas, the director chose to walk the other way.

The result is a dragging film marred by a faulty print (the film's first show at Mumbai's Fame Adlabs, in Andheri, had a delayed start and two forced intermissions apart from the usual one) capable of producing nothing but a leisurely yawn. In fact, the 20-odd people in the auditorium chose the film to chat with friends, SMS and catch up on an afternoon siesta.

The film opens with a battle for the throne between Aurangzeb and his three brothers -- Dara, Suja and Murad. Riding on his lust for power, Aurangzeb (Arbaaz Khan) defeats all and ascends the throne after imprisoning father Shah Ja

im sorry indrani

sorry indrani ,guess u were not treated v well at the premier. mayb akhbar khan didnt pay u as well as karan johar. had akhbar khan made it a copy of the old taj mahal u would have critisesed him 4 that. i think u take ur name too seriously "critic". guess ud rather watch maine pyar kyun kiya. than watch a really classy movie like taj mahal.devdas was a vulgar waste of money. it was overloaded with costumes n jewellery, so u ended up seeing nothing but glittering gold :costumes, and jewellery n sets (over done)
just see d detailing in d sets costumes jewellery each peice is diffrent and exquisite.
did u expect zulfi ,d new girl ,pooja batra , to do a good job in acting , u did?; well i did not. but guess what . they were AMAZING. not 4 a second would u think that this was not d real shah jehan,
its said that people try 2 see mumtaz mahals face in d taj, U CAN SEE THE TAJ IN THIS GIRLS FACE.
maybe u rather hav hrithik /salman and kareena play d lead roles. and pooja batra , the "no actress" believe me she STEALS the show.
not one character looks out of place.if u hav an image of what akhbar in ur mind, then ,the character jehangir was exactly what akhbars son must look like.
