GREAT article!!
by RAJESHWARI ASHAR on May 28, 2006 05:09 PM

Hats off to your article!!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
The concept of calling people who havn't read harry potter books, "MUGGLES" is absolutely fantastic.
I considered myself as the "Greatest HARRY POTTER Fan" till date, but I now know that you are one too!!
THANKS for such an interesting article.

i think what lavanya said bout the dumbledore thing was totally right. But i think u shud have added a bit more saing that the quidditch math shud have been shown.I felt that voldy is supposed to be calm and cunningly wicked in the film which he isnt.

i totally agree with the reviewer
by savita on Nov 28, 2005 06:08 PM

lavanya is absolutely right...i too faced the same situation....i persuaded three friends of mine to join me for the movie who hadnt read the book and neither had they seen the previous parts....so i just went there and was constantly questioned by them as to what was happening...they were totally lost...they enjoyed the dragon chasing scene and the yule ball....and also the moody part in classrooms....i guess the alterations made in the movie regarding winky and dobby are necessary for better understanding of the already confused muggles, as explaining the concept of house elf and thier magical powers, barty crouch junior in invisible cloak, his dad hiding him, his mom in azbakan would be too out of reach for the normal ppl who havent read the books to understand...now the situation with my friends is they think i am totally mad for thoroughly enjoying this movie which they didnt quite understand...so i have lended them my copy of harry potter and then watch the movie and then complain or comment!

Crappy Review ( Totally misleading)
by Nishant on Nov 26, 2005 02:45 PM

This review is total crap. Either the \\\"muggles\\\" who went with u r goofs or u dint understand the movie. Abt the portkey wen harry calls it a mangy old boot, fred clearly explains wat is it (for ur muggle frnds) and abt voldy touching harry, he said clearly wat led to his downfall wen harry was 11. he said he cudnt touch him then bcoz of an ancient magic he had overlookd- lily\\\'s protection and then he said \\\"now i can touch u\\\" . So there was no need for the muggles to laff at that. I suggest that this review shud be removed and the earlier review dated 14th nov shud b read as this is utterly misleading. (Ppl dont undertand the movie n they write a review on it ....LOL)

gOBLET OF fIRE : NOT FOR MUGGLES
by jignesh on Nov 22, 2005 12:15 PM

as Lavnya stated, the movie does not seems to be understood by most of the muggles,

the sceen play might have been more cleared version of the book,

simillarly do no mentioning of clear picture of Barty Crounch, Bagman, Riat Skeeter ( who can be Transfigured in to a beetle).

above all, the character of real hero "ALBUS DUMBLDORE" has been completely wasted. he is the strongest character in our magical world.

all right, for us it is same like viewing the snap shots of the book on screen.

hats of too rowling.

hey lavanya!

i thouroughly enjoyed reading your article and haertily agree with you that the 'muggles'seldom appreciate the magical world of harry potter.i have faced this situaiton much too often in the recent past.everytime i talk about a potter book with dedicated animation, people around me give me a sympathitc glance,as if to say,'shes totally lost it'!i could completely relate to your article coz every event in the books never failed to move me or cast its enchanting spell on me:)infact,to tell you the truth,i went in to deep mourning when sirius black died!oh how fervently i hoped and prayed for a magical resurrection!hmm, iam eagerly looking forward to watching the latest movie.your article has further enthused me to do so asap.

Nimesh Dikshit
muggle vs nerds...
by Nimesh Dikshit on Nov 22, 2005 03:57 AM

I don't know whether the muggles are right or the nerds ( those who read the book few times over...)

On the onset, when the movie started, my son immediately protested for the wrong start. My son, who would be called a nerd was upset. My daughter on the other hand, who thinks that why bother read a novel, when we can see it on the screen? Really liked the movie. Of Course, My son did like it too...

The Muggle like me, who are just die hard Patriotic, got convulsions when those to Patil Girls were shown in such a poor light. They were kind of untouchables, ready to be picked by any, if not you someone else can lay us... kind of behaviour did not taste good. And let me tell you, while the rest of the movie was good, this part left a bitter taste on my psychie.

This proves that we Indians, have lost all the self respect and pride in ourselves, if we say the movie was good. Now can you tell me, as an Indian, why this would not bother you? In your review, which is made for Indian audience, don't you think you owe to write the unfair behavior of the author to Indians. By the way, more books will be sold in India then in China. More kids will go to see the movie in India. Still?

HP-4

interesting comments... infact its nice to see another Enthusiast.... in leiu of the situation... i think th movie is definitely well made... and the truth is I wished I cld have seen each and every part of the book enacted in the movie... but hey... reality is u cant take a 600page book and make a 2 hr movie highlighting each and every point.

Severus Snape was given a relative low profile in the movie and for some of the Severus fans this wld have been a low blow... I was indeed impressed with the Mad Eye Moody's aka Barty Grouch Jr. performance in the movie.

The highlights of the movie... are definitely many to say.. though the two most prominent ones that appealed to me... were the Quidditch Stadium... simply sensational... (i just wished they cld show victor krum in action)... and off course the scenes of Harry v/s the Hungarian Horntail.....!!! simply spectacular graphics!!

I love harry potter movies
by Sourin Maiti on Nov 21, 2005 06:22 PM

I really love harry potter movies. I don't how much time Indian movies would take to come at that level.

Actually India need another good hit like "Koi Mil Gaya". Then only, our producer will start funding for this kind of movies.
