Death or life, can any body say that he had seen Mr. Ismail Merchant not smiling. See any photo of him,you will find a smiling face. His name was ISMAIL [ E SMILE ]. Such soul always rests in peace.
Is a filmakers so significant that you devote so much of news space for articles related to him. There are many more important issues thta people are facing daily that you should focus on. Journalism is becoming too money minded and populist nowadays that they are diverting from their responsibilities and pandering to the issues which can generate more revenues for themselves.
Its indeed a sad news. Mr. Merchant was a man who believed in making his kind of movies and never bent to commercial interests. I met him near Bhopal when he was giving an interview (he was there for the shooting of "In Custody" also). As a group of 4 school students we had come to the same spot for picnic and were unaware of the fact that our chit chat would disturb his interview. He came upto us and spoke in superb hindi requesting us to shift from there. We instantly did. He came out as a polite human being and was wearing his trademark white kurta-pyjama with a black jacket (koti).
Dear Sir, We extend our condolences to the bereaved family of Ismail Merchant. May his family be consoled and receive the strength from God to bear this sudden loss. May the soul of the departed soul rest in peace. He will definitely be missed by many. God Bless. Veronica Irene Rajah and family.
