Pathetic Situation

Even when a revered film maker like Shyam Benegal makes a film on Bose, there are people who will blindly oppose him, taking every possible measure to make sure that the film suffers. All this without even watching the film! What kind of people have we become? Pathetic!!!

Historical distortion of facts on Netaji
by Samita Chakraborty on May 08, 2005 10:37 AM  | Hide replies

The premiere of 'Bose' has rightly been banished from Kolkata. The distortion of historical facts on Netaji's so-called marriage and the manufacture of 'love-letters' should be brought forth among the common masses. A section of Bose family (not all the members)and some politicians must have some vested interest in staining the character of the Great Leader. Shri Choudhuri has rightly raised the question of distortion of the INA song in Benegal's film, which the people of India and abroad shall definitely appreciate and refuse to accept the narration given by Benegal.

Before screaming foul, you should maybe know a little more about Bose. His 165 letters to Emily is already published in a book. His family has been visiting Emily and baby Anita from the time she was a child of 6. Bose had sent a handwritten letter to his brother stating his marriage and the birth of the baby. Bose's close associates abroad pretty much knew Emily. They knew each other from 1934 when Bose went to Vienna and she became his secretary. They married later. And if you still have doubts, on look at Anita will dispel that-she looks exactly like her father. As a side note, she was invited by Nehru to India when she was eighteen.
