Does Mr. Choudhury need to be reminded that the biggest power Netaji conveyed is the freedom of soul and will. And when Mr. Benegal is trying to commit himself to such a cause why not let the audience make an opinion by themselves. May be Netaji wasn't married, but that is not the issue. The issue is that if such hitches come in the way of expression of opinion, there is a serious hurdle in what the creator wants to communicate to his audience. If Mr Choudhury and his collaborators want to make a stance, they can assume an equally good media instead of staining a creative throughbred motive with mongrel instincts.
Bengal's film is based on fictionalised biography of Subhas Ch. Bose. It should be based on true research work. The protest raised by Mr.Jayanta choudhuri & others is a bold step in unearthing the truth behind Netaji's life.
Why do we Indians always forget the main theme and fight for the small things? How will it impact the film whether he married or not or whether he married 20 times? Bose is not famous for his marital status. He is famous for his heroism, organisationsal, leadership skills, etc. Also, it is a known fact that he had a relationship with the lady. Once that is established, it is immaterial whether the "marriage", as in a ceremony, took place.
Why don't we acknowledge the death of our great hero in the plain crash, which already has ample evidence? Denying this fact simply means that he went in hiding, an insult to a man of his kind. I have no doubt that if he was alive (as few think) British might have faced a retreat much before 1947 from the land where we stand now. And a piece of advice to the researchers, please carry on with your research and avoid making statements or even suggestions based on just an old application form which could have possibly been falsly filled based on the situation during those days.
