India tv's casting couch
by Parag Gadre on Mar 21, 2005 04:12 PM

Clearly India TV is doing this increase its TRPs. But this is not the way Mr. Rajat Sharma. First Tehelka then some politicians of Bihar,UP & now its turn of Bollywood stars. Everybody knows that people in the Bollywood are not saints. But what India TV is doing by sending a girl to them. Is it not forcing some innocent girl into prostitution under the name of Sting Operation/casting couch?
If they had any public interest, they would have found out real victims. There are so many in India. Everybody knows that lot of innocent girls & boys come to Mumbai from every nook & corner of the country. Many of them are cheated by somebody or other. They are promised roles in films etc. Had India TV tried to bring any of such victims on their channel, it would have been noble cause/it would have been in public interest. But what they are doing today is completely meaningless.
They did same earlier in Bihar. They sent one innocent daring, dashing girl/lady reporter to few politicians. And recorded some obscene scenes with hidden camera. Is this a Journalism? Are they doing it in public interest? Had they shown real victims it would have been in public interest.

The real blame is to be laid at all those silly girls who are overanxious to enter the cinema field by hook or crook. The way they expose themselves in the name of action is really disgusting and strikes at the roots of feminine and human dignity. The girls are themselves to be blamed if they are treated as sex objects; it is high time they reallise this and start behaving decently to earn back their face.

Sting Operations
by Amar N. Singh on Mar 21, 2005 04:12 PM

Motives of sting operations should be very clearly defined. If sting operations are aimed at weeding out corruption in any form with a firm belief in its success (motive-wise), ethically there appears to be nothing wrong with such operations; however if under the garb of eradicating corruption, a sting operation is carried out solely for sensationalizing a situation for commercial gain, such an operation is morally wrong and should never be allowed.. Even if a sting operation is carried out with all honesty for exposing the decay in government departments, politics, industry etc., its success is not guaranteed, as we have amply seen in Tehelkas case.

If Delhi police carries out a sting operation to catch and prosecute eve-teasers, then such an operation will have immediate effect in reducing the quantum of eve-teasing. Non government organizations such as TV channels, print media, private detectives, etc. lack the power to prosecute; and it is the fear of prosecution which is the real deterrent. Merely exposing such deeds as sexual exploits, taking of bribes, etc. to the public through the media is not going to act as a sustainable deterrent. Again Tehelka case is a good example of this. One doesnt really have to warn the (lady) newcomers to Bollywood - they seem to be well educated, travel by air, and stay in five-star hotels. So what was the motive of India TV expose?

Casting couch happens. Show biz is meant for people with liberal attitudes & liberal lifestyle. one can not say everybody is involved. But yes it happens. So to sensastionalize it is TV people right towards freedom of expresion. To plead not guilty is the other persons defence.

Thats all there is to it. No body is at wrong. something was proposed and it could have been refused or accepted and this case it was just used. So will proposal stop. NO Way. Everybody is born equal but some are more equal than others.

Democracy does not mean getting into life\'s privacy
by Inderjeet Kaur on Mar 21, 2005 03:33 PM

The question that Aman Verma is guilty or not does not matter since it is his personal outlook. The most essential thing is that how can the media go to someones private life and indulge themselves.
Dont the media has to cover more thing which are more important then these things like what happened to Tsunami victims and how are they recovering themselves. And lots other.
I think that media wants to increase the TRP nothing else.

First of all i would like to congratulate "India Tv" particularly Mr Rajat Sharma for this daring work.

We respect most of the Bollywood (salman/sanjay dutt/Govinda etc)people so much because we look at them as not only reel hero but also as a real hero. Its so disheartening that they are showing their solidarity with such people. They are actually encouraging such heinous exploitations of new comers. What if Ruchi was their own sister??..

Please think about it!!.

hi evryone!
dont u think that the girl took the initiative herself?she was giving the wrong signals and trying to seduce the poor actor.Had the actor himself asked some favors from her, then the allegations would be justified.i feel that aman verma is innocent, becuz he did not even touch her!
