I am happy to see SRK, the biggest screen idol of recent times and a superstar, endorsing the smoking ban on movies. I was enraged seeing the double standards of most stars (of past and present) and other people associated with film industry (producers, directors etc) when they started speaking against the ban, terming it as unnecessary and unjust. I feel in India, where movies are an integral part of our everyday life, banning smoking in movie screens will have a big and real impact on killing this evil. The people who spoke against the ban, including Dev Anand are just hypocrites in a state of denial, unable to look into all the facts. This is a right step taken by the UPA government, but the next logical step to kill the white stick would be to stop the production of cigerattes and cigeratte import into the country, but I understand this is unrealistic considering the huge revenue the government gets from the tobacco industries and tax from cigeratte sales.
though i don't really like Shahrukh Khan as an actor nor do i like his movies but i think he is a rare one in indian film industry with his head over his shoulders and usually what he says is quite parctical and logical as well.... Well ShahRukh ..makes sense here!!!
