What trash
by Mayukh on Jun 17, 2005 12:31 AM

What kind of a trash is this. The government should concentrate on more important issues like population growth, the GDP and the energy crisis...
Movies are a part of the virtual world. By putting this ban on , the government is taking away 50% of the panache and flamboyance from the characters. What does the government think, stopping smoking scenes from movies is going to decrease the spread of the habit among youngsters? HA.... then why not stop showing things like murder, rape , sex for a break !!!!!!

smoking is ban
by Neel on Jun 16, 2005 07:10 PM

This is really both good and bad decision made by Indian governement. When it comes to poisoning young minds by movie industry, this decision seems fair. But the movie industry on the other hand will have hard time to come up with villin who could do evil roles without the art of smoking. Villins Wont be villin anymore. They will act as their actions are controlled by their mother. You know what i'm trying to say. Any way, their are more pros to this decition than there are cons. mu ha ha ha ha ha ha.........

Ban on smoking in Cinemas and TV serials
by Venkat on Jun 16, 2005 09:59 AM

I donot think somebody would go for smoking just by seeing it in the TV serials or movies. If Govt. thinks so, extending the logic, they should also ban scenes depicting rape, violence, corruption, etc.

Smoking banned in movies
by AkashN on Jun 16, 2005 03:38 AM

Who appointed these stupid politicians as our moral police? What are they going to do next, write scripts for movies? Are they going to ban chewing paan from movies next? By this logic they should also ban classics like "Khaike Paan Banaras", "Paan khaae saiyan hamaro" and innumerable other such songs because they promote paan! What are they hoping to achieve by all this? This is a direct assault on freedom of expression and such moves (and its perpetrators) should be rejected by all who believe in democracy.

other things
by Atul Garg on Jun 16, 2005 01:24 AM

Hi. I just saw Sathiya a few days back. I was shocked to see Vivek
Oberoi listening to music on his motor bike and riding around
mumbai.
When such mtorcyclists get knocked down and become statistics in
mumbai road accidents, nobody pays attention. Movies are making
this a fashion.
maybe directors and actors would learn.
Bye.
Atul.
A&E Doctor. (seen plenty of such dead people).
