Aslam Oh Alaikum ,

Nice review and yes it is true that deshu where the same sunglasses which Mr Dawood ibrahim wear , Some poeple are saying that this film is not the story of Mr Dawood ibrahim well they are in mistake , every event is true Hashim bhai plays the role of karim lala the afghani smuggler and the 70's Mumbai base don who select Mr Dawood Ibrahim first time in his gang.

The whole film is blast to underworld fanatics , you can say its a priceless gift.

The direction is superb as an debut director by vishrant sawant , after watching company i thought that now no more underworld rox movie will born like company , but i was in mistake , i recomend to watch the film 'D' you will not waste any of your assets.

my review on D
by pidi on Jun 28, 2005 03:24 PM

In D, you can say there is only one song, the faltu ke dialogues were replaced by music intensionally, the direction is perfect, the director will get total 10 for his work. The Gangaram character is remarcable.
Chunky Pandey is good. Isha's rle is small but good. in this film the skill of director not lies in the sequences or how he has narrated story but lies in the small tiny things like how shabbir speaks, how he replaced the boaring "used to" dialogues and the sequence of sequence of scencs when Deshu comes in Gujarat and sequence after that dialogue "Aap milate nahi aajkal". The actress Rukhsar comes for short period but looks sweet. Mukaran (Sushant Singh) and Shabbir (Yashpal sharma) as usual done well. Finally the hero Deshu (Randeep Huda) has done fentastic work. There is no surprise to hear that Ramu has hired Mr. Hooda for his next project. I dont know weather he knows dance or how he delivers continuous dialogues but still he wins the faith from all. Regarding the negatives of the movie, no romance and no romantic songs. Lack of good dialogues for making some sequences really impressive, no restrictions for the hero, he can kill(literally)any one. still D is a mustwatc

Enough of Ramu
by Sameer Iyer on Jun 25, 2005 09:50 PM

After the brilliant Satya and a realistic Company, why would anyone be expected to watch D? It does not go anywhere near the former two, they are a measure of how good an underworld crime movie can be. Ramu needs to realise that his best contribution to the underworld movies is complete. It is time he retires from this subject and give us something different.
Hooda may be good in this movie, however I doubt if he can do any variety of roles. Pretty soon, another director will cast him in a very similar role, he will be labeled as typecast, and thrown out. Looks like a one-movie wonder.
Good review by Rediff, though. Very balanced, not taking any sides.

by ANUPAM on Jun 15, 2005 11:16 AM

D is like a real story of a silent man who sees everything but says nothing.A man who wants to become most powerfull man. but he has only two skils.1st a gun in his hand and 2nd his confidence about kill anybody.

Deshu's life story - reg.
by saumitra on Jun 14, 2005 04:16 PM

Review was totally the script of D. If reviewer did'nt saw Company then it is surprising why he dared to review D.
D was total remake of Company & Satya. Even item songs were inspired from earlier Ram Gopal's movies.
Continuous shootouts without much story or dialog was inspired from Company & Satya.
For this type of movies not much facial expressions are required from the hero, so Mr. R.Hooda had nothing much to do.

Interesting notes in the movie:

Some of the Salman Khan's fan may raise their eyebrows after seeing their icon alike bodybuilder hero being bashed by Deshu.
Throughout the movie Goga Kapoor's son were hating Deshu because he was having relationship with a movie star.

D is a chill Saturday Time

Probably the reviewer has not seen Company. When i went to see D , I knew that comparisions to its famous sequel would come. Company brought to life some entertaining moments and took a life into the dirt as well as glamour that exists in underworld. So much so that lot of people thought of contemplating a career in it. The performance saw one of the best performances by the Ajay Devgan who rose to fame as an bankable star.
Randeep hooda potrayal of Deshu is indeed an effort to make realistic to the real character, silent brooding, emotionless and calculating. His character metarmophosis reminds us of the angry young man potrayed by the Amitabh of the 70,s except that here bullets do the talking for him.His potryal of an ordinary face bearded and cigarette smoking bears reemblance to the common man turned gangster. and the most notable point in comparision to Devgan is the silence is his strength.
Chunky pandey potrayal is indeed worth rembering a la Tezaab character. He supports Deshu well with his spontaniety and humour. His remark that his work along with his girlfriend's bar dance work is bad but entertainment is realistic.
D is not deadly as Company but watch cold blood
