Aw, come on

Looks like Mr Ghai got your brief completely wrong. It's the list of the best Indian movies Mr Ghai, not Hindi movies. In any case, the fact that fluff like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Taal (hello???) make the list devalues it instantly in any case. As Yoda would have said, "A break give me, please."

Ridiculous
by Venkat on Jun 03, 2005 01:17 PM

Are these best Indian films are best Hindi films. Most of the best India films will be from South India or Bengali ones.

And Ghai's Bhetaal (taal) should be in the worst films list.

Taal ????
by Shobhit on Jun 03, 2005 01:04 PM

Taal was a good movie but definitely i dont think it was quite in THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY Movies.

Ghai couldnt have been more partial in his choice.

are india's best films only made in Bollywood?
by varma on Jun 03, 2005 12:27 PM

Everyone knows some of the finest directors do come from south. Maniratnam, RGV, BharatiRaja, Vishwanath

There are quite good movies in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu too. May be mr.Ghai is forgetting those.

Ghai on India's Best Films
by Prakash on Jun 03, 2005 12:22 PM

Dear Mr. Ghai,

I believe the list is truth upto your knowlegde. But I am confused that the list is "India's some of best films" or "Whole list of best Hindi films"? Could you please clarify me. There before, first this would appear in "list"?

Regards,
Prakash

Mr. Ghai's all-time list
by Sachi Mohanty on Jun 03, 2005 12:20 PM

I was not surprised to see Mr. Ghai's selection. There is not much you could say on the listed movies. The only questionable entry being Taal. I was surprised to see this. I am sure not many will disagree that Mr.Ghai has made better and more successful movies. His Meri Jung and Saudagar are my favourites. I also like Karma and Khalnayak. I am not sure why Mr.Ghai stuck with Taal.. overseas earnings, I think not.. I am not sure why..

Mr.Ghai, BO hit not a factor
by Vishnu on Jun 03, 2005 12:15 PM

By seeing Mr.Ghai's list of best Indian cinemas it appears that he goes by the BO verdict. That way other films like DDLJ,K3g,Lagaan etc.must also be featured. And Mr.Ghai please know thatIndian Cinema doesn't constitute only bollywood. When compared with the standards of the movies made in bollywood, south Indian movies r much meaningful these days.If u r out of ideas to make movies atleast learn from some of the classic south indian films ever made in the history of Indian cinema.Think on the lines of some gr8 film makers like satyajit ray,K.Balachander,Mani Ratnam("I wud rate him the best") and recently Shankar and Bala. That way 'Taal' stands no where.Minus Rahman's music that movie is scrap.I think ur list should be seriously reconsidered.

subhash ghai's best movies list
by sandeep on Jun 03, 2005 11:51 AM

Mr. Subhash Ghai is out of his mind to include Taal and Kuchh Kuchh hota Hai. He seems to think too commercially. How can a best Indian films list be complete without 'Pather Panchali', 'Bhumika', 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron', 'Pushpak', or the recent 'Black' and 'Hazaron Khwaishein Aisi'? This is absolute rubbish and an insult to cinema.
