Amitabh makes the difference
by Sunil on Jul 21, 2005 10:18 PM

One of the very few actors on Hindi screen who consciously applies his senses to a role and depicts it believably - whatever the make-up, clothes or character he is made to perform. That is why it is always a pleasure to watch Amitabh regardless of the film script.

AB too posh for ordinary Maharashtrian.
by Rakesh on Jul 21, 2005 03:30 PM

Though I like AB a lot, but I'm not sure how AB with his strong personality and aura can actually look like an ordinary Maharashtrian. I think someone with more modest looks like Anupam kher could have been better for this role.

Not 6th but 5th!

You guys are never going to change as youa re biased to Shahrukh Khan. Only you are telling that Paheli did well. Elsewhere it's declared flop. I don't know what kind of journalists you have hired who keep on pouring wrong informations like National Award to Aeshwarya Rai, Paheli is Hit, Sarkar is a bad movie, bLACK HAS FLOPPED ON bOX OFFICE...!!1 i MEAN COME ON THIS IS HEIGHT OF MISINFORMATION AND MAL-JOURNALISM!
Instead rediff should close it's movies section as well as shopping one too, and better prefer on remaining.
For better information Paheli flopped on Box office and for any such information I suggest your journalists to see the official site.

Amitabh's movies have unique titles usually
by Siva on Jul 21, 2005 02:15 PM  | Hide replies

From the promos of Viruddh it comes across that the efforts are sincere.
Amitabh Bachchan has finally reached a stage where the script has to challenge and interest him or else he's tending to ham and go through the motions.

Khakee, Dev, Black and Sarkar - thats the AB we love.

We've always gone to watch a Bachchan movie because it gives a larger than life boost and a high - and when we get more than we bargained for then it reinforces his superstar status.
Its difficult to watch AB in emotional rona dhona movies acting his age unless the screenplay is excellent. As he rightly pointed out in an interview all of Hollywood superstars are much much older than the oldest of Indian Cinema can be and no one expects them to be stereotypical and play their age.
Its great to watch AB when he is subtle and not going over the top - even in his hey days - the brooding simmering roles were the dhamaka roles.

And Dialogues - when our filmmakers realise that you can't have AB without writing crackling lines for him.
When you have a voice and a modulation to boot that classy you are supposed to use it or else its a national waste.

Please advise him against those fake sticky beards!

Yes Amitabh should stop wearing those gray beards. Even in Black, minus that artificial looking white stuff on the face , would have matched the old looking man better.

The fascination of seeing Bachan without the Rona Dhone scenes should not end with Banti or Bubli or Sarkar.
