Sreenivasan maybe an unknown name right now but two of his fils are being remade in hindi with big names; 'Shortcut-The con is on'with Akshay kumar and billoo barber with srk...

He is one of the best srceenwriters in india at the moment. His movies are'nt "issue" based or "off beat" but strays a lot form the masala format and yet has mainstream appeal. The movies he makes are intelligent and are based more on charaters and dialoge than plot. He rises social issues in his movies but in a more subtle manner. I have seen most of his movies and i can say that he has not done one bad work till now.

Hes a great actor and director too...

The trick to get Marathi movies
by Bragadeesh Srinivasan on Jul 21, 2005 06:19 PM
Exactly, why not Marathi movies? Bhojpuri? Oriya and Assamese? And, hey, it is the Internet, Chinese? Vietnamese?
The secret really is you got to make more than one movie per year.

It's good to see film reviews in your site, but how come that Marathi films don't get space in your column?

Paheli is NOT a remake of a kannada film but an adaptation of the folk tale 'Duvidha' (which has already been made in Hindi earlier). Sorry! Better luck next time!

Rediff neever published that Swades was remake of Kannada movie "Chigurida Kanasu". Rediff never published that "Paheli" was remake of Kannada movie "Nagamandala" Why is this attitude towards kannada?

And Rediff also never published that 75% of the movies made in Kannada are remakes of Tamil, Telugu or Malayalam superhits. Why this attitude towards Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam?!

What a brilliant suggestion!!!
by Bragadeesh Srinivasan on Jul 21, 2005 06:15 PM
Shobha Warrier, c'mon! Start writing reviews for Oriya and Bhojpuri movies! What? You don't know Oriya? How narrow-minded!
In all these years, couldn't you have learnt one language from the "multi-farious" Indian cultural fabric? Shame on you!
Also, how could you right Srinivasan is a brilliant actor? I mean 95% of India doesn't know him. You should write only about people whom "95% of India" (=Cliffhanger) knows!! In case you don't understand, Marlon Brando, Martin Scorcese, and of course, Srinivasan are all out.
Write about Salman Khan (and his switch to Buddhism), Saif Ali Khan (and the National Award that mommy got for him), and Mira (what you dont like Pakistani actresses? Racist!!).

Be broad-minded!! WRITE ABOUT THINGS YOU DONT KNOW!!

Worry over Wariier's evil designs

*** Contd from earlier amil***

regions/languages.Rediff ,I am shameful for meekly succumbing to a handful bigots who are fanatic on their language and region and never be appreciative of other multifarious colours of Indian cultural spectrum.Rediff, please bring back the National character to your website, Don't become puppets in the hands a few women who are very fundamentalistic.

Hellooo,
I know there are others publishing reviews of other languages, but this person Shobha seems to get an unfair share of space and prominence and she is using it to the fullest to put news about Mallu & sometimes tamil film industry as the most happening stuff in India, can't understand rediff's extra support for her antics, but I dont care. Let her have her things published, but in their proper place & space, not as "the" things of India but along with other languages..
But, I doubt if rediff is trying to do justice to every language/state in their website, and seems like they dont care, if one state gets undue importance than others.
Just because a journalist is from Kerala(or any state for that matter) and she starts projecting everything that happens around her as the headlines of the world is idiocy and rediff allowing it only shows their utter lack of professionism and cynicism...
its just rank bad journalism...
but rediff is not a one-stop destination of all Indians of the world for all news related to India & it can not claim that spot also, until they have people like this with "frog in a well" mentality get undue importance on their website..
-Raj.

1. People write about what they know. What is the problem with rest of the nation knowing film industry in the south?
2. If you are that concerned about other languages, why dont you write your own reviews.
3. I guess there are other Rediff people writing reviews for other languages.

Hello, I understood your worry. I just want to enhance Shobhaji's IQ levels and knowledge on India and its geography.

She doesnot know howmany states come under South India. She always say 2 those are TN and Kerala.

Also let her know that India has got many states with diff languages and cultures.

It is just awareness campaign to Rediff and its reveiewers like Shobha.

You don't know .. She conveniently forgets the movies when mentioned Tamil and Mal movies of which remake but projects very well when that movies are remade into other languages.

You don't poke your nose, if at all, come with a open mind

Worry over Warrier designs

Hello Shobha,I could not understand your intention. The column you offered and the blind rediff published is not of any National interest. What you talk about it is not understood at least 95% Indians. The names of the movies and the actors/actresses you are mentioning can never be identified as they are not even known forget about well known, to 95% Rediff readers. Why do you publish such a core local and very much regional items on the National scene. Why don't you ask Rediff to start a Tamil/Malyalam version of its web site so that you can become the queen and champion of the items you are interested where as 95% Indians are not interested. If you are really interested to make all Local events(related to films only) to the National scene, why don't you look beyond coming out of your narrow mindedness.Go to Bengali, Assamese, Marathi and even other Southern languages.Think about other Regional languages, understand their films, taste them and let your readers also taste by way improving National integration. With a prejudice mindset, you will never comeout /dare to do in such a way.Fine but donot impose your readers with your choice of narrow mindedness by patronising only one **Contd
