Kudos to the versatile actor.I not only feel proud about his acting skills but also is an inspiration to all of us in the fields of acting, social work, command over cinema, passion about this industry and also his personality.Though he is one of the few actors who have knocked the door of Oscars this honour is laudable.May god shower him with an Oscar before he ends his career. On behalf of all the rediff users a hearty congratulations and also all the best
HELLO... I almost read rediff regularly, though I noticed a couple of times before I thought of writing this time. In the column covering souther indian movies titled "Southern spice" or something, I notice only news from TN & Kerala are covered, & sometimes may be AP, but I never saw any mention of Kannada movies, Hello, when you say south indian movies, you people can not ignore a whole state & its language & its movies...they may not be big & lavish movies like our friends in TN & AP churn out, but they make very good movies too and nobody can ignore them & their contribution to Indian cinema in the big picture scenario. I just hate this gross negligence and its even FALSE & a lie to call it south indian coverage, as it is clearly not so...if this particular journo doesnt know abt kannada movies, get someone else to write that part or something... IF this is not possible change the name of the column to Tamil spice or Mallu spice ...
Telling truth is not a virtue in journalism, its a basic requirement. When it is not done, its just not proper journalism.

hai thats right. Even people form other southindian states would like to know about kannada movies. Good that u pointed it out...
This is quite stupid to see an actor get a doctorate for no work. Has is sibmitted any thesis? Did her do any research on any new aspect of cinema or anything that can be considered as worthy enough to award him with a doctorate.
It's about time that we should get over all this impressionable era where actors and actresses are considered not just as any class of workers but as gods and goddesses. This is a shame for all the other students who would have earned their doctorate with years of hardwork.
So let me ask this. Would any of the doctorate students get a life time achievement award in teh film industry?
All I can see this is just a publicity stunt to get some more funding for the university or something.... I am not sure

Nope. Kamal deserved to get doctorate. His expressions are like lessons for the people in cinema. If you have discovered something in your studies you get doctorate. Likewise his expressions, his acting skills and his versatile and varient acting fetched him this doctorate. This has nothing related to studies. This is for his acting. Kudos to Kamal. All the Best.

Hi Chirag, I absolutely agree with ur point. I am a fan of Kamal Haasan. But I don't think he deserves a doctorate. He deserves his padmasree and his three national awards for best actor, but not this doctorate.
