Its difficult to believe that she did not go to Oscars in spite of being invited, especially when Aishwarya is trying to make a career in Hollywood. This was a golden opportunity for her to make her presence felt. No one would have wasted the opportunity if they had really got the invite. Even the producers of her movie would not have objected. After all they could have used this invitation as a publicity material for their film. Therefore her US agent saying that Ash will not make it to the Oscars because of the producers is not digestible at all. All this proves that the rumour was just a publicity stunt.
It was just a rumour that the Oscar committee had invited Aishwarya as a presenter. The media should have clarified with the concerned people before publishing this news. There is no mention about this news even on the official site of the Oscars. No foreign newspaper had published this news except for Indian newspapers. According to the Oscar committee they release the list of presenters weeks before hand and don't leave perfomers and presenters for the last minute. So if she was not on the list, she was not presenting and not invited. I think this might have been a deliberate attempt by Aishwaryas PR machinery to gain a free publicity and also to show to the world how professional Ash is that she refused such prestigious offer so that there are no problems in the shooting schedule. Aishwarya Rai very cleverly did not issue clarifications because such false news only adds to the hype surrounding her and keeps her alive in the media. As it is, she has nothing to boast of by way of any hit movies or good performances.
Ash for Oscars!!!....Impossible....99.9% People in Hollywood don't even know her .....Why do we Indians make fool of ourselves by taking pride in such fake news...Oscars wouldn't have invited her to sit even in the back seat....
alright people, stop making up stories.. they had REAL movie stars presenting awards, no offense to rai but she is trying way to hard with her publicists to get her opportunities and make up stories like these... its not bride and prejudice is known that well here... only for the indian crowds that are going to the theatre to support their fellow indian.

i wonder where Rediff got this from .. Aishwarya's name is not even on the list .. Check this out at the Oscar's page of invited Guests!! Well - here is a stunner - she never was supposed to be there!!!!!!!!!!! Rediff - did you goof it this time??
This was one chance that she should not have missed. This is a moment for what many other very experienced stars of bollywood might have been waiting for.She got the chance and she missed it.We are proud that she has reached a level where she can represent India very proudly. However, there are some deficiencies that she should overcome. When she came on 60 minutes and nightline,we all NRIs wished that she could have been wearing a Sari or an Indian Suit to represent the country instead of a western dress. Now we wish that once she comes on OPRAH show, she wears sari.Anyways right now,the question is "couldnt she make it to the oscars,or did she just ignore it?"well,We all had wished that she was there on the oscars. Her appearance would have made many Indians proud again.
