The Indian film industry needs well educated directors and script writers who can create give perspective of real life on the celluloid. I feel proud to hear from people like Ashvin Kumar who are out here to give cinema its creative edge and not just a commercial facade.
Whether Oscar comes to him or not, he is the kinds thinking audience look for.
I agree that we tend to bask in the glory of achivers who may have some really very vague connection to India (or even not at all). I'm happy that someone has pointed that out. Even 'Bride' is a British film with an Inian actress.
I onder if we would be doing the same thing by being proud of Ashvin Kumar's success & nomination. Also, as he has confessed, he is an international filmmaker who ONLY happens to be from India, & is not a repesentative o the country. Should we really feel proud if he wins?
