David Letterman's statement about Ash on CBS show
by AMJAD K. MARUF on Feb 15, 2005 12:06 PM

With respect to the CBS Late show last Tuesday it was surprising to see David Letterman introducing Aishwarya Rai as the most famous actress in the world but unknown in America. This exaggerated eulogy does not make sense on two counts. Firstly, Aishwarya Rai cannot be termed as the most famous actress in the world just on the basis of her two hits in her entire career spanning a decade. Most of her movies are neither famous nor successful in UK, US, India or anywhere in the world, so how come she is the most famous actress in the world. After all, success and fame go hand in hand. Secondly, what logic, does the statement most famous actress in the world but unknown in America, have? Is America not part of the world? One never expected a respected host like David Letterman to make such pretentious and exaggerated statements? Was this exaggerated eulogy meant to be a publicity campaign for Bride & Prejudice? Did the producers of this movie pressurize David Letterman to make such false statement on the show that was watched by millions? Majority of them would have laughed at such a fake & tutored statement.

Aishwarya' statement on CBS show
by AMJAD K. MARUF on Feb 15, 2005 12:02 PM

Aishwarya Rais statement We don't have to make dinner appointments with our parents" was in bad taste. There was no need for her to make fun of every individual in America. She should remember that while praising our culture its not necessary to ridicule cultures of other countries. She is as clueless about the world as she "claims" the rest of the world is about India. India has become quite westernized but the way Aishwarya is portraying it to the world she makes it seem like India has no contact with the rest of the world. In India, young couples are abandoning the concept of joint family system and prefer staying away from parents. There are more old age homes in India than any other place in the world. So before ridiculing the American style of living Aishwarya should look closer to home in India. If she can hire agents who can get her a 7 minute time slot on CBS Late show with David Letterman then can't she hire coaches who can teach her how to dress, how to talk, what to say and what NOT to say on such high profile shows? BTW, during her affair with Salman wasnt she living in a separate apartment away from her parents?
