If I were Rohan Sippy I would be feeling very happy that my film is doing well but at the same time feel a bit apologetic for not having the grace to atleast acknowledge the sources from which I borrowed to put my film together.
In the context of a commercial hindi cinema, Bluffmaster is well-made film. Its stylish, well-paced and keeps the viewer engaged. The choice of actors is good and I especially like the fact that the look and feel of the film is very realistic- there are no exagerrated sets, loud clothes or cliched dialogues. The comedy is sharp and orinigal. The star of the show is really Abhishek Bachhan. He has the perfect personality ans poise to carry off the role of a sophisticated conman with many faces.
However, the film is almost a remake of a Michael Douglas starrer called 'The Game'. The only difference is that the hollywood version is a thriller and not a comedy.
It would have been nice on Sippy's part to acknowledge this fact, I don't know if he has done so. If he's promoting the film idea as original then its disappointing espcially for a man who has a degree in philosophy from a US university. I guess he totally missed the lectures on ethics.
I saw the movie last night last show. Enjoyed it. When the whole lot of audience were expecting it to be more, "Right here right now" abruptly ended halfway through. Great disappointment. It should have been somewhere in the middle.
Rohan, thanks a lot to make such a nice movie. I was just flamboyant with ending of this movie. It was just new in the industry. Great! work of mind.
