total bullshits

Agree with me or not (well of course Amitabh-fans won't... but mind you, I too am)... Both 'Family' and 'Ek Ajnabee' were an utter waste of time. Here in New Zealand we pay $5 (Rs. 150) to rent a Hindi movie and it really hurts big time to watch such disasters at that price. More so, if a friend from here is around. And EVEN MORE SO if we are watching remake after remake of older Hollywood movies which 'this friend' would have already seen. Really, such tendencies and movies are a big stigma for the whole Indian Film Industry. Well, whatelse would you expect from an industry that proudly calls itself "Bollywood" and feels not a shred of shame. But I for one wouldn't have expected these movies from Amitabh, at least at this mature point in time in his career. Shameful Mr. Bachchan! Very much so!

Hannan, stop cribbing about $5. Whenever I'm in the US I dont rent movies, instead go to theatres- pay $8.50, plus popcorn, parking, and mileage! That's MY choice. If you chose to move to NZ and catch Indian flicks there, it's your choice. Indian cinema is not obligated to take your finances into account. Now, I havent seen the movie, and I dont care much about watching it either. But it's appalling how much you feel entitled just because you spend 5 bucks! Also, in terms of cost of living and value of money, it roughly means Rs50 in Indian terms (NO! cost of living and value of money is NOT same an currency conversion). So, if India people see these movies for Rs. 100 or 120, technically they are spending way more than you are. So, get over your poor mindset, and get some perspective!

Too old!

i'm one of the biggest fan of Big B becose he remaind me my childhood days wheni was watching him and still watching him in film industry , in this movie i felt that he was too old to do the role , I prefer this role to one of 3 actors( Sanjy Dutt or Anil Kapoor or Sunny Deol ) , also the movie is a copy cat of Hollywood filck , nothing new in it or any creative work from the director !

Amitabh ain't ajnabee
by Azgar on Dec 23, 2005 09:34 AM

Hey,
Big be overshadows all. But even a die hard fan like me wasn't satisfied by this movie. It has an over stylish look. Looks like triple mascara on an age old lady's face.YES.
Indian directors should concentrate on the story building rather than technical mockery.
Hope Big B's family would be worth watching.

Ek ajnabee is a complete rip off from the original hollywod
by shilpa on Dec 22, 2005 09:37 PM

Has anyone of you seen Denzel Washington's Man of Fire. EK ajnabee is a total copy of that movie.Dont know where copyrights have gone. Each scene and each dialogue has been translated word to word from the english one. The performance of Amitabh was great though.

Of course its a copy of "Man On Fire" ,but my post here's not cause i wanna complain about it.After all these Bollywood jokers masquerading as filmmakers have been gettin away with intellectual plagiarism for a long long time, nothing new about it.My query revolves around this hype and hoopla that surrounds Mr Big B.Seriously, what's in him?Sure hes acted in a few good movies in his time, but the bad 'uns far outnumber those. His popularity simply stems from the fact that this country of ours harbours the maximum number of emotionally retarded people on a global scale.
Mr Bachhan's taken advantage of the weak EQs of a million Indians of all shapes and sizes, something that catapaulted him to the position he finds himself today in.Read somewhere that he likes to think of himself as the Indian Sean Connery.Gimme a break!Connery, even in his death bed would look better than what the Shahenshah of Bollywood looked like 20 years ago.Ditto as far as his well known movies are concerned.Films like Deewar,Coolie,Don etc etc(and all his great potboilers of yesteryears) insult the intelligence of any moviegoer with a normal intelligence.
Thats whats really wrong with us Indians. We tend to put individuals on high pedestals based on reasons entirely unrelated.Which is why Mr Bachhan gets praised for his rock solid persona, determination and strong moral character more often than for his performance. As if people makin these grand observations have spent their whole lives with him.Thats the reason why the faces of a million Indians light up with glee whenever his highness walks into the screen, hang the movie, the poor acting and shoddy direction. After all, this is a demi god were talking of,and one should never take His Lordships name in vain. And thats why at the end of it all, after the 3 hour torture sessions over, the crowd will disperse ,possibly displeased with the film, but murmuring their approval of His Majestys performance.Kind of a Pavlovian reaction, huh?Bachhan on screen=Gasp, cry, shudder and shake in awe .Any reaction on the contrary would definitely be unnatural, and unwanted.

If an actor does a good job in a terrible film, it is not stupid to accept the fact... Mr Bachchan is a very versatile actor and has played various roles with ease.... if a film is bad, it is certainly not the fault of an actor who has done a good job! blame the director, the story writer, the music composer.... who-ever is to blame.... not the one (and probably the only) person who has delivered!
People in India are neither fools nor emotionally retarted.... the fact that we have feelings for an actor shows that we have very ripe emotions and are definitely not retarted in that area....
You seem to have put Sean Connery on a pedestal and are commenting on us putting Mr Bachchan on one.... Take a stand and stick to it, dude!

The movie is a total disaster. The climax is a complete flop. Big B and baby Rucha Vaidya has done excellent job and their work is worth praises, rest there is nothing in the movie. The script is bullshit.....

BIG B ROCKS
by Paul on Dec 14, 2005 06:45 AM

BIG B rocks in Ek Ajnabee. Its worth watching . Day by day he is getting younger and giving tough competition to all these younger actors. Its not so new that his performance was excellent in all the movies he did but again in this movie he stunned me with his mindblowing trendy look and unique style. He is still THE BEST we have in bollywood.
