This guy Raja is definitely one of the most of the over rated critics. Sometimes I wonder how a reputed site like Rediff gives chance to such baised and dumb critics to write for their site. I think Rediff should try to maintain the reputation of their site. Previously I used to always read Refiff reviews and decide on the movies to see. But not any more. At least till they clean up their site from such dumb people. Movie critics should be written about people who have knowledge of movies. I feel with my years of movie seeing expoerience I can possiblly write better reviews than Raja Sen.
I just fail to understand on how a 'not catering to the gallery' film critic like Raja Sen can call Aamir Khan an overrated actor.Talk of any film or any genre, this guy can pull it off, with or without the backing of prestigious production houses. He doesnt confine himself to standard orthodox roles, and the only blemishes have beena few projects wherein he got bigger than the film(e.g. Mela, Mangal pandey), but that apart, who in this industry would not want to have his Track record?? Aamir Khan is the most versatile and classy actor that we have in the industry, along with Big B and Boman Irani.
Well, I have just read the 2nd chat and I am truly horrified with the answers of your so called celebrities. Ajay devgan for instance acted like he was doing a favor.
How about some more teeth in questioning and more honest answers?
Shame on Rediff for taking its readers for a ride.
Oscar is an American award targeted for English language films. We make films in Hindi and other regional languages. It's time to realize that winning an Oscar is not the be-all and end-all of film making. There are a huge number of films made worldwide that do not win Oscars. But at the same time they are equally good or better than any Oscar winning film.
We should revamp our own awards like IFFI to a grander scale and market it like Oscars. For any Indian Film, that should be worth more than an Oscar.
I think if Bollywood were to try making "real" movies, instead of those god-awful puke-till-you-drop music-videos, they might actually be considered for an Oscar. Then again, if Bollywood is so great, why then this desperation to earn the blessing of the firang outfit?
